MY THOUGHTS
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though it frustrated me at some parts. It was a good sequel to the first book, Obisidian. Although some parts were quite slow paced and most of the action happened at the end, it was fun to read.
I couldn’t help but laugh at Daemon who kept getting Blake’s name wrong, even though it did happen a lot, like can’t you just say it right already. It’s not Bob or Ben, it’s BLAKE. And I was always a little suspicious of him, but I was especially mad when he started to put others life intentionally in danger. And the mutation is kind of hard to wrap my head around, because first Katy was sick and then she was a hybrid? Anyway, that’s not too important. Will was also always very suspicious and was never normal. I could never work out who’s side he was on or if he was on his own side.
I didn’t like that Daemon would act all jealous boyfriend because they were never dating, he didn’t have to become so distant. And also why couldn’t they tell Dee? She was in danger either way, instead Katy pushed her away. And why were Adam and Dee constantly attached to each other, that’s a little too much, don’t you think?
I did like the aspect of Katy and Daemon’s relationship and the way it developed, but at times I found it frustrating and sometimes far-fetched and unrealistic (in the circumstances). But I did enjoy it. I never shipped Katy and Blake (besides their ship names: Klake or Baty. Nah) .
We find out in this book that Bethany is alive and we then have to assume Dawson is too since one cannot survive without the other. Bethany was, unfortunately, crazy when we met her. When Katy was kidnapped after Adam’s unexpected death, I felt so bad and sorry for her. She went through so much pain and I was just wondering why Daemon didn’t get her out faster. He took so long and I was just saying to myself: RESCUE HER, RESCUE HER! And I was totally shocked on how actual people thought they could treat others.
I was glad when Daemon agreed to let Katy come along to look for Dawson once they finally got ridden of Will. And as they were walking up the staircase to find him, I couldn’t decide in my head if they would find Dawson there or not. But then he wasn’t and I was like: Now I have the read the next one to meet Dawson. NO. But then he was at Daemon’s house with Dee standing in front, grinning (which at first confused me).
Overall, this book was fun and entertaining. It was a little slow at times but it was filled with interesting information on the next book, Opal. The book keeps you guessing and is very enjoyable!
