Synopsis:
Simon looks for a distraction with an evening out with some of his new vampire friends. What started out as a night to let loose quickly turns much darker when Simon wakes up the next morning with no memory of the night before and a dead body he now has to answer for. Meanwhile, Alec orders Valentine to be transferred to Idris to help repair relations with the Downworlders. Magnus recalls when he was a young warlock and found his mother dead. His stepfather then grunts at him in something captioned at Dutch (which it is NOT), and Magnus killed his stepfather.
MY THOUGHTS
(SPOILER AHEAD)
This was a great episode. It was a lot of fun and I had a good time watching it. It kept me at the edge of my seat and I was constantly nervous about what was going to happen. There are a few minor things that I didn’t like but otherwise I really liked the episode.
So, the aftermath of last episode has hit Simon fast and that is the main focus of the episode. He’s really upset and overwhelmed and all I wanted to do was tell him that everything would be okay. There were so many feelings going around throughout the entire episode and it truly heartbreaking seeing our beloved characters so confused and torn. I feel Clary said I love you quite quickly but she might have just said that in the moment. And with Simon, it was like reading the books. Alberto did very well portraying Simon’s emotions.
Speaking of Simon, all I want to say is WHOAH. He dealt with some serious stuff this episode, and for the most of it, I genuinely thought he killed that girl because he does in the books. Luckily he didn’t and I was relieved. Also, what in the world did Simon drink?! The vampire club was weird. I had a weird feeling every time someone walked in there. Is it just me or is there something up with Luke’s police partner? She’s becoming even more shady and fishy. This may sound way out of this world but maybe they’re bringing Jocelyn back? The partner seems very concerned with Luke and kind-of met Simon. Sound familiar? Another thing I thought while watching was that don’t humans become sired to a specific vampire once they’re addicted like Camille? Those mundanes looked like they’d have just any vampire.
I was so freaked out and creeped by Sebastian throughout the whole episode. We’re seeing his worst side more and more and I enjoyed it but I was scared (literally terrified) of what he would do, by the first time we saw him. When he was ironing his hand, I let out a silent scream. We see the actual Sebastian Verlac and I actually forgot that (I assume he uses a shape-shifting rune – ugghhh) Jonathan was that cruel to him. It was terrifying. And then when he speared Sebastian, I was horrified and shook. And he’s now finally revealed as Valentine’s son and we can now understand why he was never recognised, since he looked like a real person. But an important factor that is vital to Sebastian’s character is that he was brought up by Valentine which does not seem like the case. It looks like he was never raised by Valentine, so I guess we’ll have to find out how this part of the character plays out.
The best parts of the episode have to be Magnus’s story. WOW. That really hit me. He had such a terrible upbringing. I really felt for him and I forgot how much he’d gone through. I thank Alec for being there for him. Magnus is so great and didn’t deserve to go through what he did.
I was overall entertained by the episode. Some bits are going to lead to problems and the promo for the next episode is making me wary. But we really had some nice moments, and I’m especially pleased with Sebastian’s character. What did you think? Let me know in the comments.
