Synopsis
Her story is a phenomenon. Her life is a disaster.
In the real world, Eliza Mirk is shy, weird, and friendless. Online, she’s LadyConstellation, the anonymous creator of the wildly popular webcomic Monstrous Sea. Eliza can’t imagine enjoying the real world as much as she loves the online one, and she has no desire to try.
Then Wallace Warland, Monstrous Sea’s biggest fanfiction writer, transfers to her school. Wallace thinks Eliza is just another fan, and as he draws her out of her shell, she begins to wonder if a life offline might be worthwhile.
But when Eliza’s secret is accidentally shared with the world, everything she’s built—her story, her relationship with Wallace, and even her sanity—begins to fall apart.
MY THOUGHTS
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
Gahhh this book is so relatable. I loved it to pieces. I read it literally under 24 hors. Eliza is basically me in book form (I just can’t draw). I loved it all!!
ELIZA IS LITERALLY ME. I love that she loves her comic.Okay, so sucks at sports and wears baggy sweatshirts. Yep that’s me. I love all the internet appreciation in this book. The way Eliza spends her day is so relatable. I loved how she got lost in her drawings. I would literally be sitting there reading and I would ask myself: Is this me or Eliza?
Now let’s talk Wallace. Bless him. I adored Wallace. He’s too precious. He has selective mutism which I’ve never seen in YA literature before. I loved the letters he wrote to Eliza. I just want to protect him all the time. I really loved how he wrote his transcription and it was perfection for Eliza. His pretty/cute girl thing on his forum was the sweetest thing EVER. I literally cannot explain how much I love this book. He’s cute and I love him. Good bye.
I love Eliza’s internet friends, Emmy and Max, and how they help out with her comic. They’re chats were so much fun to read. I love how they’re all different ages but all love the same thing and they’re always helping each other out. The joke about Emmy’s age was HILARIOUS.
I didn’t really like Eliza’s family at first because they didn’t get it. I didn’t like her parents, but by the end if the book and I wanted to high-five her brothers and say thank you. Great kids over here.
I guessed that her parents would tell that she was the creator. I did think Eliza would tell Wallace though. I also think it did Eliza good to get off the internet for a while. I really didn’t like Wallace the time he was ignoring her and was acting like an idiot. Like, can’t you see she’s going through some stuff?! I was so pleased at the end when he found her on the side of the road and why couldn’t he have realised any sooner that he was acting stupid. Typical boys in contemporaries, I say. That epilogue gave me life.
I’m glad Eliza is better now. I just wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be alright. The art and online forums were also really awsome. Eliza is literally me and I love that. I just love the whole book. I need a Wallace. Is there much else to say? I love this book and that is all.

I had to skim-read this review because I don’t want to be spoiled, but it sounds like such a great book! I love good, fun friendships, and this one looks like it definitely has them.
Thanks for the review, Ruby 🙂 ❤
