So yeah I reread this. Well, actually I buddy-read it with Lu (who’s AWESOME by the way and go follow her blog). But anyway, we reread it before Lord of Shadows to get back into the world and this edition is stunning so couldn’t resist. I took me a long time to finish? It may be because of TV but moving on… OF COURSE IT WAS AMAZING! AND EPIC! AND SASSY! AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN A BOOK! AHH, I can’t contain my love for Shadowhunters. Damnit, Cassie. But like she’s a queen that rules over us and shatters hearts. We have a love-hate relationship okay! Okay, we should get into the review now:


Okay so for the most of this, it’ll be spoiler free. I’ve already screamed at you that I loved it and that’s amazing and that I’m in love with basically all my cinnamon rolls right?? Okay so now that’s settled…

 
OMG CASSIE IS SO GOOD AT WRITING THE BEST PLOTS. She’s a total mastermind and genius. So many hints to future books and argghh why does she have to do this to us?!! Honestly if you haven’t read this yet then I actually don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Kidding but SERIOUSLY READ IT!!!!! I also noticed that the book is WAYYYY better than the movie. They changed so much! Ahh, the story is so intricate and I LAUGHED SO MUCH OMG!! SO. FREAKING. GOOD

Tbh the characters are what really make the book

• Magnus is basically just a glittery cat and he’s so great. He wasn’t even in much of the book yet left my mouth hanging open?!

• Luke is such a great character! He’s so underrated omg

• Alec actually got on my nerves a bit. He’s so moody. I mean I love him but dude get over yourself and stop being an old man

• I don’t like Hodge

• Isabelle is a whipping, sassy and badass girl and I have this new-found love for her. She’s honestly the best. I just wouldn’t eat her food. I adore Izzy so much omg

• Simon is a little cinnamon roll but he’s a little bit like a puppy for the first have but he’s adorable at the same time? Ahh my precious baby

• Clary is really brave! Like I can get why she’s disliked but she’s still a really good character

• Jace is my SOULMATE and I love him very dearly. He’s a broken pancake and also kindof a self-obsessed dumbass yet still loveable. I literally love him with my entire being and he’s SO SASSY THAT I CAN’T HANDLE. Gahh i love him

WHY THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SHOULD BE READ BY EVERYONE

• I’ve already mentioned but the characters are kickass and precious so doesn’t that give you enough of a reason
• Jace
• Izzy
• Magnus
• The diversity is overflowing. Like nothing is explicit yet but it’s coming
• The other wonderful heartbreaking books
• The world is amazing
• Cassie is the queen of not only characters and my heart but also PLOT
• The ships!!!!
• The fight scenes are EPIC

“It was Simon who promised you the sponge bath.”
“As soon as I’m back on my feet, handsome,” said Simon.
“I knew we should have left you a rat.”

“One of the Silent Brothers is here to see you. Hodge sent me to wake you up. Actually he offered to wake you himself, but since it’s 5 a.m., I figured you’d be less cranky if you had something nice to look at.”
