GOODREADS SYNOPSIS:
Ruby never asked for the abilities that almost cost her her life. Now she must call upon them on a daily basis, leading dangerous missions to bring down a corrupt government and breaking into the minds of her enemies. Other kids in the Children’s League call Ruby “Leader”, but she knows what she really is: a monster. When Ruby is entrusted with an explosive secret, she must embark on her most dangerous mission yet: leaving the Children’s League behind. Crucial information about the disease that killed most of America’s children—and turned Ruby and the others who lived into feared and hated outcasts—has survived every attempt to destroy it. But the truth is only saved in one place: a flash drive in the hands of Liam Stewart, the boy Ruby once believed was her future—and who now wouldn’t recognize her. As Ruby sets out across a desperate, lawless country to find Liam—and answers about the catastrophe that has ripped both her life and America apart—she is torn between old friends and the promise she made to serve the League. Ruby will do anything to protect the people she loves. But what if winning the war means losing herself?
I AM NOT FRICKING OKAY! THIS IS UNFAIR! My emotions are destroyed and have been on a rollercoaster. I actually am left stunned. I love these books so much. SO UNDERRATED. Honestly, if you haven’t read The Darkest Minds then I don’t know what you’re doing. DO IT!!! This book literally destroyed me. Don’t even ask how I finished a 560-page book in like 2 days (I didn’t read that much yesterday, just last night). How I am flying through these so fast, I don’t mind. I love all these characters and the writing is really well done and the plot is SO GOOD. Please go pick these up if you haven’t yet already.
The amount of times I was on edge and screaming at this book is uncountable omg (!!). I was literally scared the entire time and dying inside. Alexandra Bracken sure knows how to hold you in suspense. There are so many moments where I was literally freaking out and it physically hurt. This is unfair.
So Vida; at first I just wanted to hit her on the head but later I realised she wasn’t all that bad. Vida landed up being really funny. I laughed so many times, especially with all her nicknames. Like the first half of the book, I really didn’t trust her, but she started to show us she really is human.
Jude was also really irritating at the beginning. I was just like back off okay? But then he started to grow on me. I was sobbing by the end and wanted to scream at this government. He did not deserve this.
Okay side (ish) characters: I kind of trusted Cate but not completely. And same with Cole but I kind of didn’t mind him by the end. I did not expect his reveal though omg!!! I still hate Clancy with a burning passion. There’s another character that I literally wanted to murder but I’ll get to that in a moment. I also hate Rob so much
This government is so corrupt it’s not even a joke. These leaders are so messed up. They all think they know what to do but actually, they know NOTHING.
I ABSOLUTELY HATE KNOX WITH THE MOST BURNING PASSION EVER. I wanted to stab him over and over and over again. I have many things to call him but they may be inappropriate. Who the frick does he think he is? I hate him so much. Like who are you? How can sick one person be?!
I love Chubs. He is adorable. I was waiting for him to appear and was so relieved when we found him ahhhh. He’s changed so much but I think in a good way. Chubs is everybody’s saviour.
I really love Ruby but I also wanted to strangle her as much as Chubs did. Like I get it but also whyyyy???? I love how she wants to protect everyone but also it’s not your choice to make even with good intentions. I did love how she took control of her abilities but also there were so many times when she could have used them.
I obviously left Liam for last because I love him even more than I did before. He’s my everything, to be honest. I love him so much. I missed him so much and I will fight anyone who dares hurt him. He is honestly too precious for this world. I never expected to actually find him where he did but I also really did. I was so mad. I’m also mad at Ruby for him. I totally get why he’s so mad but I also love how he’s so protective over her and how his memories were never actually gone. I can honestly gush about Liam all day because I love him that much. He makes my heart melt. Ahhh I can’t even!!!!
This entire had me on edge. I was scared half too death – a whirlwind of emotions.
DID YOU LOVE THIS BOOK? WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PARTS? HAVE YOU READ THESE BOOKS YET? I’D LOVE TO KNOW
