FEBRUARY RECAP // the month of tv & movie love aka welcome to my reading slump chaos
Now I could be wrong but I heard, you know through the grapevine, that February sucked universally. This statement may be bold and I’m glad if it didn’t suck for you. But it certainly did for me.
You wanna know why? Because I didn’t read a thing. I tried to. I did read things. I just didn’t finish anything…
Love that for me.
So I have no wrap-up to share with you today. I can share my current read and the books I’d like to read in March. Because I definitely do need to read something this month aghhhh.
I was going to say that February was cursed or something else that is as vaguely exciting. But I did read books in February of last year for class. So oh well, it is just me and not the month.
Anyways, here’s what I have been reading for basically the entirety of February:
The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas: I was (and am) so so honoured to have been approved an eARC of this one by the stunning author @thebibliotheque and I have been slowly making progress with it. I’ll tell why it’s been slow in a second. I have been reading, I read right before bed, but I literally manage like 2 lines of this book and then pass out. I need to adjust my sleep schedule, I know. It’s terrible. And I’d like to finish this. I’m currently 50% through and plan to just devour it in the next few days. Keep your eyes open for a review! Also big thanks to the author for providing me with the early e-copy < 3
eARCS:
- The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas
- Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
- You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
- You Have A Match by Emma Lord
- A Pho Love Story by Loan Le
Yes, this is slightly impossible but I feel like being optimistic oops.
The lovely people at Jonathan Ball Publishers sent over a surprise copy of A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Mass. Kinda intrigued to give this series a shot, you know, just for funsies *wink wink*
Also a big thanks to J.T. Grobler, a local South African author who reached out to me, for sending me a copy of her book The Seeing Scroll. Very pumped to jump into this middle grade.
And lastly, I also found a SIGNED copy of The Way You Make Me Feel by Maurene Goo second hand!!!!

Okay, I am so sorry but I don’t think I read ANY blog posts last month. I’ve been slightly lacking in the creative department and therefore have not visited my WP reader.
However, I do know that:
- Sumedha redesigned and relocated her blog and IT IS SO STUNNING I AM OBSESSED. She even mentioned me and I’m just,,, crying for eternity.
I’m afraid that it’s though. I’ll CATCH UP AND BE BACK SOON!!!
If you exist anywhere in the online book world then you were probably aware that the new To All The Boys movie just came out. Now I’m quite ashamed because I didn’t watch it on release day, which I’ve done with the first two. But I wanted to rewatch them to refresh my mind, and just didn’t manage to before the new one came out. I eventually did. I watched To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and To All The Boys: Always & Forever. I do have opinions on this finale and have a whole blog post planned so stay tuned for that. Gotta keep the suspense ya know. Need to actually start it whoops.
But to really sum up February, I have to reveal my kryptonite and the culprit of my time-wasting. Which is… Grey’s Anatomy *hides in corner*
I’m actually terrible. I am aware. Like Ruby, didn’t you rewatch just last year? Yes, yes I did. I am apparently incapable of stopping once I start. In my own defence, I did skip episodes. But also, I’m now nearing the end of season 10. I’m still terrible. I eat, sleep and breathe this show and it’s the cause of my not sleeping. Agh I’m just going to leave now because there aren’t any excuses.
Apart from not reading anything, I was miraculously productive in terms of blog admin. I may have a done a thing and am now ACTUALLY setting up rates so that I can be paid to do this. It’s much harder than it looks though as I am unfamiliar with Excel lmao. Had to design invoices and all sorts of things but hopefully, they’ll be done soon and I’m super excited to start this new venture. If anyone has any tips, they’d be so appreciated btw!!
I also ran a giveaway on Instagram which was so much fun and I got to give away a copy of These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong < 3
Oh and I don’t think I mentioned this in the previous recap, but I am now also a permanent rep for Wick and Fandom, a local bookish candle (and other items) store!! The owner is a friend of mine and ah I’m so excited!!!
Before I return to my hibernation hole, I should tell warn you that uni starts up again this month *fake smiles*
Okay no, I am excited as my courses sound super interesting, I’m just also nervous because we all know that I struggle with time management and juggling both my studies and also reading and blogging. I do have a tentative plan and I’m hopeful that I’ve learned from my… mistakes. Wish me luck.
Only two weeks of this glorious vacation left ahhh.
Oh, one more thing. I signed up for a short mindfulness course that my university wellness division (??) is hosting. Should be great and I’m really hoping it helps with my anxiety. At the moment, I’m fine but when I saw they had a course, for free, I just thought why not? Thought you all might be interested : )
WHAT DID YOU GET UP TO IN FEBRUARY? DID YOU READ ANY GOOD BOOKS? WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE? DID YOU WATCH THE NEW TATB MOVIE? WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS? WHAT ELSE DID YOU WATCH? LET ME KNOW!
Happy reading

Aah thanks for mentioning my blog update! I’m so glad you like the new blog 😁
Feb has been alright in terms of blog and reading but work is slowly sapping my soul away. All through last year I was just I had an income during the pandemic but I took very few days off (in order to compensate for my surgery leave) and it is catching up to me. My mental energy is OUT. March doesn’t seem to going better as of now, hopefully Blogging again can give me some joy.
All the best for uni! I hope you have a good March, at least better than what you expect.

I hope March is a great month to you, Ruby!! That mindfulness course sounds really interesting, I hope you enjoy it. Lately, I’ve also been focusing a lot on mindfulness, but it’s been pretty much journaling and medidating. I’d love to know if you learn anything interesting!! 🥰

Your TBR looks great! I’ve heard so many good things about The Fever King.
Try not to be too hard on yourself! February was a very slumpy month for me too (I think it was for a lot of people, to be honest!) and sometimes we need to take a little time away from reading and blogging. 🙂 I hope March brings lots of good books your way!
