JULY RECAP // movie theatre mania aka going to barbenheimer, publisher events, back to school & cute reads
Quite chuffed with myself for being mostly on time with these lately. Who knows if it’ll stick because I have a big fat deadline at the end of August. You have been warned of my potential upcoming hibernation.
Let me stop freaking us all out (lmao) and jump right in!

Nothing More To Tell by Karen M McManus {★★★½☆}:I FINALLY picked up this one and ugh Ms McManus always manages to sweep me away with a great time. Unfortunately, this was not my favourite of hers, I usually tend to love her characters but they weren’t my fave in this one. But the cold case was fun and I kept going, so it’s definitely worth a read if you’re a fan like me. Big thanks to Penguin Random House South Africa for the eARC and physical copy. More thoughts in GR review right over here
You, With A View by Jessica Joyce {★★★★½}: I mean wow. Round of freaking applause for this DEBUT that literally knocked my socks off. Jessica has pure talent in those finger tips and this book was just absolutely everything. From the writing to the romance to the settings and the gut-wrenching grief conversations THIS BOOK WAS BRILLIANT. Tysm to Penguin SA for the eARC via Netgalley! More thoughts coming in a review soon (and something else!!!!) but click here in the meantime for my more thoughts xoxoxoxo
Sheets by Brenna Thumler {★★★★☆}: Was browsing Netgalley’s ‘to read’ list and I’ve had this on my tbr for ages so immediately downloaded it. And ugh I can see why it’s so popular. Stunning artwork, tweens, ghosts, humour, what more do you need? Tysm to Oni Press, click here for the GR review!
Delicates by Brenna Thumler {★★★★☆}: And to my absolute delight I could just keep going with this series. Loved this one just as much, comes back with everything you love plus some new friends and more ghosty antics. Stunning!!!! Tenks to Oni Press, click here for the GR review
Lights by Brenna Thumler {★★★★½}: And last but certainly not least as you can see by my rating is the finale to this delightful graphic novel series. This one got slightly more emotional than the last two and hit all the marks for me in that way. Super satisfying conclusion to a fantastic series that you MUST read. Big big thanks to Oni Press for the eARC via Netgalley, this one hits selves 5 September!!! Click here for the GR review <3<3<3

Friends, I went to A TON of movies. And it was a BLAST. To recap, I saw
- Indiana Jones and The Dials of Destiny
- Asteroid City
- Spider-man: Across The Spiderverse
- Barbie
- Oppenheimer
Can’t believe that was all in one month to be honest. And I watched other movies during, which include Frida, Miss Potter, Inkheart and Vanity Fair. And rewatches excluded guys wowza that’s a lot. And if you were wondering, Oppenheimer was my favourite of the two, but Spiderverse takes the cake!!!!
I’ll leave you to peruse my Letterboxd for the juicy deets *wink wink*
OH I almost forgot that season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty came out last month and ahhhh IM YELLING. So far, weekly has been fine but I also do want to binge so I’m torn. But ooohhh she’s good and pulls at those heartstrings. Not watched in August but I have to yell,,, that last episode SCARED me omg I might die gimme another episode right now actually or I’ll faint,,,,
Semester two is upon me. Almost said us but I’m alone in this boat friends ahahah. I have a crazy crazy next like 3 months because I’m tutoring this semester as well, but I’ve made good progress with my dissertation and my course load is not too bad. Actually quite manageable. It should be good, just need to pull up my scheduling socks!!!
