PREDICTING 5 STAR READS // books I think I'll love, adore & devour
Is my TBR pile huge? Yes. Do I buy more books anyway? Yes.
I have made a rule for myself to only get books I think I’ll love and I have so many of them right now. I’ve seen this post go around and it seems super fun, so let’s just do it.
LORD OF SHADOWS by Cassandra Clare
Yes, this is my most shamed. I WILL READ IT. I am scared so I’ve been putting it off but I promise it will happen soon. If you haven’t read the Shadowhunter Chronicles then I honestly don’t know what you’re doing with your life.
STRANGE THE DREAMER by Laini Taylor
Omg, I have NOTHING but amazing things. I don’t exactly know what it’s about apart from a librarian and a lost city. I hear it’s magical and wonderful and I NEED IT NOW
DAUGHTER OF THE BURNING CITY & ACE OF SHADES by Amanda Foody
These books have been getting rave reviews and I just need to know. I still need to get a copy of Ace of Shades but I do have Daughter and am hoping to get to it soon.
CARRY ON by Rainbow Rowell
I literally freaking adore Rainbow Rowell and her writing is my fave yet I’ve only read 2 of her books. I know that I’ll just gobble it and I NEED TO READ IT. I adored the fanfic in Fangirl so I know I’ll love. Literally, don’t ask why I haven’t read any of her other books.
THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE by Mackenzie Lee
This is another book that EVERYONE loves and I know that I’ll laugh my pants off and enjoy every page. It sounds epic and delightful and I should read it soon.
A THOUSAND PERFECT NOTES by C. G. Drews
Ya’ll probably know Paper Fury and that her humour is the best. I also know that this book will destroy my entire being. I have an ARC of it and as I said I’m in a contemporary mood so I’m definitely going to get to it asap.
THIS SAVAGE SONG by V. E. Schwab
I’ve been reading ADSOM and although I do like it, it’s a little slow and also not YA so I can’t relate as much. I have a feeling I’ll be a die-hard fan for this duology from book one. It’s about monsters (which sounds awesome especially from Victoria Schwab) and that’s about all I know.
CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE by Tomi Adeyemi
I don’t know where you’ve been if you haven’t heard of this book yet but it’s been everywhere and everyone loves it and I’m sitting here needing to find out for myself. But alas, I’m a terrible reader when it comes to timing. I will get to it as soon as I’m in the mood for high fantasy
THE ASTONISHING COLOR OF AFTER by Emily X. R. Pan
This book has been everywhere (yet again, are you surprised?). I hear it’s sad and beautiful and I am not prepared. It arrived at my house a few days and I screamed when I saw it. ARGHHH I am so freaking excited!!!
TASH HEARTS TOLSTOY by Kathryn Olmsbee
I’ve been doing Russian history at school and when I read the synopsis I knew I had to read it. It’s got online creators and I know I’ll love it. It sounds geeky and adorable and why haven’t I read it yet? I honestly don’t know.
NICE TRY, JANE SINNER by Lianne Oelke
This book sounds adorable. I think it has reality tv and college and I don’t really know what it’s about, just that I need this book in my life. Plus the cover is my aesthetic.
STARFISH by Akemi Dawn Bowman
I feel nobody knows about this book and I actually don’t know what it’s about just that it has high praises from my trusted friends and that it’s beautifully written. I MUST READ IT!
TO KILL A KINGDOM by Alexandra Christo
Ya’ll know that The Little Mermaid is my fave Disney princess movie and that I’d die for that movie. AND I HAVE HEARD NOTHING BUT AMAZING THINGS. I’m patiently awaiting my copy which should come soon. I NEED TO GOBBLE UP ALL IT’S GOODNESS!!
HAVE YOU READ ANY OF THESE? DID YOU LOVE THEM? WHAT ARE SOME BOOKS YOU THINK YOU’LL LOVE? I’D LOVE TO KNOW!

I both love and hate Cassandra for Lord of Shadows. *sob* And I LOOOOOVED Carry On. Which is kind of odd because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Fangirl (lol)

I know I’ll feel the same about LoS. I enjoyed Fangirl, not as much as everyone else but am super hyped for Carry On ☺️

I’m proud to say that STRANGE THE DREAMER is beautiful. The beginning is like “EH WTF IS HAPPENING” and then it’s amazing and magical and gooey and beautiful and LAZLO <3
I still cannot believe you haven't read Starfish yet. I'm always scared when people read because Idk if it's a good book or just personally a book I really liked. If that makes any sense? Because it just mean to much to me for many personal individual reasons so I'm anxious to see if you will like it.
The same also goes for The Astonishing Color of After. FOR ME THIS BOOK MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME BECAUSE OF THE ASIAN REP AND I CANNOT EVEN AHHH. It's so GOOD and I found myself in Leigh SO MUCH so please please like it's beautiful. AND OH MY GOSH THE WRITING!!
To Kill a Kingdom is a good story but DHAJHDI it's not amazing and doesn't blow me away at all. But the premise and writing and dynamic!! PERFECTION.
I'm SO glad to see my FOODY books on there, getting the attention they deserve. Please let me know when you pick them up and tell me your thoughts! And I think i've screamed about ATPN enough soooo YOU KNOW HOW AMAZING THAT BOOK IS OK.
Nice try Jane Sinner LOoks SOOOO GOOOD OMGG

Ooooh this was such an interesting post!!! I definitely hope you give A Thousand Perfect Notes, To Kill a Kingdom, and Children of Blood and Bone 5 stars!! The latter two were 5-star reads for me, and ATPF was a 4-star. All will definitely make it to my favorites of the year. ♥ I also hope to ADORE Ace of Shades, The Gentlemen’s Guide, and Starfish. 🙂

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is amazing; I loved it so much!! The characters are everything and I loved Mackenzi Lee’s writing style; it really drew me into the story. Starfish is also one of my favorite books! It has amazing Asian and anxiety representation, so I hope you’ll like it too. 😍

I will read them soon… promise
