BOOKS THAT MAY CURE YOUR READING SLUMP // ft. addictive, action packed or fast-paced reads
I was watching a youtube video and was inspired, so I thought to make a list of some books that might break your reading slump.
A while back I did a post about different slumps so click here if you want to read that. I was proud of it at the time so hopefully, it’s still decent.
MORGAN MATSON BOOKS
I’ve recently got into her books and Since You’ve Been Gone is one of my all time favourites, but these books are so great. They’re perfect for the summer time and you can so easily get sucked in. I read all of them in the span of a few days and fell in love. They have great friendships and are super relatable.
THE RAVEN CYCLE BY MAGGIE STIEFVATER
It’s been a hot second since I’ve talked about these books, and it might just be me but I couldn’t put these books down. I’ve heard some say it’s slow but they weren’t to me. I won’t even try to pitch it to you but these books are super eerie and mysterious, and there’s a great band of characters. These books are just a super fun time and I highly recommend!
TO KILL A KINGDOM BY ALEXANDRA CHRISTO
I recently just devoured this book and read it so fast. It’s a dark Little Mermaid retelling with sirens and siren hunters (and of course pirates). It’s full of witty banter and easy to read. I was addicted and couldn’t put it down.
SHATTER ME BY TAHEREH MAFI
These books man. The writing is so beautiful and even though I know the characters at first will annoy you, I can guarantee that you will be addicted anyway. Tahereh’s characters are so well-written and she’s just a genius. They’re really quick reads and definitely recommend if you haven’t read these and want something super fun and fast to read.
PERCY JACKSON BY RICK RIORDAN
Yes, I know this is a middle-grade but ANYONE CAN READ THESE BOOKS! They are so funny and the characters are some of my all-time faves. I haven’t read these for a while but I really think you could get easily sucked in and just have a grand old time!
SIX OF CROWS BY LEIGH BARDUGO
Most people have already read these books but there are probably some of you who like me put this off reading these books. Let me just stop you in your tracks, once you get into this book, you’re in for life. I very quickly became obsessed couldn’t put it down. The characters, the world, the writing – it’s all phenomenal and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
WARCROSS BY MARIE LU
Okay, I am patiently waiting for Wildcard because it came out like a week or so ago but boy oh boy did I devour Warcross. That book is so awesome. The writing and just the general futuristic setting immediately sucked me in, I couldn’t stop reading and it ends on a cliffhanger so if you haven’t read these books, now is your chance to binge them. I’m not a big fan of sci-fi (it’s not set in space btw) but I highly recommend this one!
TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE BY JENNY HAN
These books have been getting a lot of buzz lately since the Netflix movie came out and they’re the best for slumps! The characters are relatable, the story is super fun and it’s all just so good. I have reviews for the movie and a reread review of book one if you’re interested and you can just have an amazing time reading these beauties and then watching the movie!
THE INFERNAL DEVICES BY CASSANDRA CLARE
I have nothing but love for my favourite series of like ever (of course I have others but just,,,). I’ll just rave about these 5ever. It’s historical urban fantasy with amazing characters, an awesome world and so well-written. It’s also the most heartbreaking thing ever so prepare yourself, they might destroy you
I hope one of these peaks your interest and can help cure your slump or maybe you’re just in the mood to devour a book.
WHAT’S A BOOK THAT GOT YOU OUT OF A READING SLUMP? DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? I’D LOVE TO KNOW!

The infernal devices can get you out of ANY slump. And then put you back in a million year long one because you’re crying forever. Approach with caution.

My warning exactly. You’ll be out of the slump but then afterwards be like theres nothing else to do and i am deceased. Good luck to the newbies….

Agree with the Shatter Me series! It’s so fast paced that I can’t see it not getting you out of a reading slump. I also suggest Simon Vs. to get you out of a reading slump.

Ohh yes! I thought of putting it on but then yeah 🙈
