MY FAVOURITE YA BOOK-TO-MOVIE ADAPTATIONS // ft. all the movie love
You don’t even know how long this post has sat in my drafts and I’ve only now gotten to it… *nervous laughter*. I don’t have much else to say so let’s just get into this.

HARRY POTTER

I mean how could I not? I’ve watched these movies countless times. I’m really unoriginal, I know. My favourites are the last two, those are constantly on repeat. The set is amazing, the actors are perfect. I’ve loved them since I was 11 years old so I mean?? Is there really much else to say?

LOVE, SIMON

I know, I know, I did warn you that I was unoriginal. This movie was so good and quickly became a favourite. It’s such a good adaptation. The movie is adorable and perfect. They made one change that wasn’t my favourite, but the casting was so perfect. Click here for my movie review! I just,,,,

BEFORE I FALL

Okay, I have not read the book so I can’t speak as to how accurate the adaptation is, but if you didn’t know, I’m not an easy cryer. I mean it takes a lot to cry during a book or movie. But by the end of this movie, I was SOBBING. Zoey Deutch is amazing and I love her. The geeky guy who plays (who is also in Simon and I hated him) is so cute in this movie. Anyways, I just really loved this movie. Again, it might be terrible for fans of the book but I personally loved it.

DIVERGENT

I just had to add this movie to this list. I love for this series has certainly lessened over time but back in the day, I was obsessed so. The other two weren’t great (even though I loved them at as a young child but we’ll ignore that) but the first movie is an excellent adaptation. I should rewatch it actually. It’s extremely well done and the soundtrack is also excellent.

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS

I wasn’t expecting this one to be on my list. I don’t know if you know the story, but back when it came out I truly disliked it and never understood the hype. I thought John Green was extremely generic and I was just not into it. But when his latest book came out, I thought to give him another shot and my mind was blown. Then I had to read TFIOS for school and decided to watch the movie again to get into the vibe and I WAS SOBBING. I was shook. I mean these were worse than Before I Fall’s tears. This movie is spectacular and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE

You all know about this movie and have probably already seen it because this movie BLEW UP. It’s amazing. The casting, the set, the costumes, it’s all perfection. I adore the soundtrack. This movie is done so freaking well and I CANNOT stop raving about it. I legit saw it like four times in one week, that’s how amazing it. I don’t know when the second will be announced, they’d be stupid not to continue on with them. Anyways, it’s amazing I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I also have a whole post about it so click here for that.

FLIPPED

Have I raved about this movie enough? Of course not. Now, I have skim read the book, and from what I saw it’s very faithful. This movie is on my favourite movies of all time list, I ADORE IT. It’s this magical little movie about middle schoolers and it’s truly amazing. I have a whole post dedicated to it so click here for that but I’m just going to shove it in your face if you haven’t seen it.

THE HUNGER GAMES

These are hands down one of the best books to movie adaptations. They’re so freaking amazing I can’t even explain it. These movies deserve the world. Like everyone loves them. I recently rewatched them and FELL IN LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN. The acting and sets are phenomenal. The cinematography is amazing. They’re just too amazing for words. I loved them all, but I think I have to say Catching Fire is my favourite. They’re just so perfect and I’m so glad at how well they did. We all know how literally everyone was reading the books and getting merch. I just,,, have no words!!!!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE ADAPTATIONS? DO YOU AGREE WITH MY LIST? WHICH OF THEM DO YOU ALSO LOVE? I’D LOVE TO KNOW!

Love, Simon is DEFINITELY my favourite, closely followed by To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (I haven’t seen that last one in a while because it will make me cry but I still love it to pieces) The Harry Potter movies will always have a special place in my heart and I love them very much, but there are too many changes and things they left out that I’m just not happy with haha. They are still among my favourites though! Just not at the very top 🙂

I totally agree with HP, i love them but they left out a whole bunch. I’ve been meaning to give perks another chance because I didn’t love it a few years back but I have a feeling I’ll appreciate it a whole lot more 🙂

I’ve seen almost every single movie on this list and have to agree that they are all amazing adaptations! Two of my favorite adaptations is The Book Thief and Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I really want to give perks another shot so I can appreciate and same goes for the book thief 😀

I hope you do! They are both wonderful books.
