⚔️
Synopsis:
A queer “enemies to lovers” journey of a lost princess and a changeling who was made to take the heir’s place as part of a fey scheme.
Aisling is many things to many people: princess, heir to the throne, teenage daughter of two loving parents… She’s also about to learn a lot more about herself: changeling. Fey creature. Hunted. Feared. Loved?
Forgive-Me-Not is the name given to the true princess — the lost teenage biological daughter to the king and queen, who’s grown up in the chaotic and untrustworthy realm of Faerie. When Forgive-Me-Not breaks into Aisling’s room the night before their 18 th birthday looking for revenge, the two embark on a long and arduous journey. And what starts as a confrontational and adversarial pairing grows into a bond of mutual understanding, friendship, and maybe something more…

STAR RATING: (4.5 out of 5 stars)

You are speaking to a body no longer on this earth, but instead was transported to THIS fantasy book. Which, when I tell you, is so deliciously beautiful that you wouldn’t care living amongst fae people, I’m not exaggerating. And those folk aren’t good people!

Ugh, what the heck, this book was so delightful! The premise is WOW MESSY. The princesses swapped lives; one had it not so great, and the other a princess? Shut up. (Yes, that was a Princess Diaries reference!). Anyways, yes, these girls really bring the enemy to “enemies to lovers”, and the entire book turns into an adventure plot, and both our FMCs realise they might not be as the other seems.
The world-building is rich and intriguing (as well as beautifully drawn). I forget how much I love an urban fantasy book until I read books like these. The contrast between the fantasy world and the human world was very well executed, in my most humble opinion.
Did I mention the artwork was amazing? Just needed to say it again for emphasis.
The dialogue was lovely, and the romance hit all the good spots. I loved each of the characters’ backstories and learning about why they are the way they are. And a moment of appreciation for the fight scenes. And a teensy bit of gore, aka wounds. They were so good?!?!?!
Overall, this was a fabulous YA sapphic romantasy graphic novel that you absolutely need to pick up on your next trip to the bookstore. You can yell at me if you have regrets, but I bet money there womn’t be any as this book is a feast for the eyes and the soul <3<3<3
