TROPES THAT I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF (part 2)

So a while back I did TROPES THAT SHOULD REALLY JUST LEAVE FOREVER and I wanted to do a “tropes that I love” post. I don’t hate all tropes actually… who would’ve thought?

THE “I LOVE YOU BUT CAN’T/WON’T ADMIT IT” OR “SLOW-BURN” TROPE

This may be a little annoying at times just because you want it to happen but it’s just not. It also usually takes the entire series to happen but like I love it? Yeah, I’m TRASH for romance. And also a crazy person. But like I can’t resist…

THE “CHOSEN ONE SAVES THE WORLD” TROPE

With this it kind of depends. Back when I started reading I loved it but now it really depends on the story and setting. The most common being Harry Potter and Percy Jackson which ya’ll know I love. If it’s done really well and in a unique way then it’s awesome.

THE “SWEET, KIND AND ADORABLE MALE LOVE INTEREST” TROPE

Bad boys annoy me but I also love quite a few. I cannot help but fall for the sweet ones though. I mean how can you not?! Need I say more?

THE “OPPOSITE ATTRACTS FRIENDSHIP” TROPE

I love me some romance but well-done friendship is also amazing. I especially love when the “unlikely” friendships where two characters who you wouldn’t pair together become the close friends.

THE “SMALL CHILD WINS OVER THE GRUMPY OLDER GUY” TROPE

This is literally the sweetest okay. That smaller child who befriends the seemingly grumpy older guy but who is actually not. SO. GOOD!!!

THE “HERO WITH CONFLICTED FEELINGS” OR “ANTI-HERO” TROPE

I like this when the hero doesn’t really know if he’s actually a hero and may feel villainous. It adds a layer of depth to the story and also the hero which I like to see.

THE “HIDDEN WORLD IS REAL” TROPE

Ya’ll know I love urban fantasy and it’s for exactly this reason: finding out there is a secret world in our own. It’s the best to read about a world in our own and learning about it.

THE “PLAIN JANE IS ACTUALLY AWESOME” TROPE

Now, this may be annoying but I actually like it because I’d like to relate. We all seem normal so it’s refreshing to see that great things can happen to you. Does anyone else feel like this?

THE “BOY SAVES GIRL (AND VICE VERSA) IN NEED” OR “DAMSEL IN DISTRESS” TROPE

I really love this trope when our main lead is like captured or maybe really upset and the lovely “boyfriend” finds her and is comforting (or saves her from a bad situation) and it gives me all the feels. It can’t be staged or cringey but if it’s done in the right way then it’s MAGIC.

THE “PROTAGONIST’S CHOSEN/EXTENDED FAMILY” TROPE

This is when our protagonist has kind of a bad family or they’re non-existent and they kind of make their own family. It is a little annoying because sometimes there are just so many absent parents but this also works sometimes works with the story.

THE “DEADLY TRIALS OR CHALLENGES TO ENSURE SURVIVAL” TROPE

I love it when there are like challenges or like a battle to go through in a book. It makes it so much more interesting and edgy. Especially when they have no choice. It makes the character so much stronger and arghh I love it.

THE “BAD GUY WHO’S NOT SO BAD AFTER ALL” OR “ANTI-VILLAIN” TROPE

This is probably my most recent fave because these guys are like my favourite character of the books. It’s when they appear evil but there’s actually an explanation and they’re basically the sweetest, most precious characters EVER. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

Let'sChat-1

WHICH OF THESE TROPES DO YOU LIKE? ARE THERE SOME I DIDN’T MENTION THAT YOU LOVE? DO YOU ADORE THESE AS MUCH AS I DO OR REALLY DISLIKE THEM? LET ME KNOW!
