MOST ANTICIPATED 2024 RELEASES // an all-in-one screaming session ft exciting upcoming books, movies & tv shows out next year!!!
Doing it a lil differently this year so keep up!
No, I’m kidding, of course, I’ll explain. I completely forgot that we do these posts every year and quickly had to do my research. And then I realised that every year I put down a whole list of books that sound slightly interesting and I might be excited when they come out, but never really get to them,,,,
To keep myself sane in 2024, I have selected a list of books from authors I have read and loved before, and a very small list of others that I am 99.9% positive I will actually read. Hopefully, I do, you never know. And to spice it up because technically the list is shorter (idk maybe not), we’re talking about film here too because why not? I’m a book blogger and film major so I’m just combining my hobbies here folks.
Without further ado, let’s jump right in!

JANUARY
—
The Lost Love of Akbar Manzil by Shubnum Khan (1 January 2024): this is the local title of Shubnum’s latest book and it goes by The Djinn Waits A Hundred Years in the US and UK. I attended the launch of this author’s memoir a few years back and she was so cool and the premise of this foray into fiction… SOUNDS INCREDIBLE?!?!?! Set in South Africa I believe, it’s magical historical fiction and that’s all I needed to know.
A Fragile Enchantment by Alison Saft (2 January 2024): lol I swear these first few are part of the abovementioned exceptions but I’ve heard phenomenal things about A Far Wilder Magic which was on my anticipated list last year and I just KNOW I’m going to love this author. This is a YA magical historical fiction of some sort?
Come and Get It by Kiley Reid (9 January 2024): gah yell at me to read this author’s debut and I literally know nothing about her next book but my gut says I’ll be obsessed and my gut is rarely wrong *wink wink*
Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett (16 January 2024): the Netgalley Little Brown gods blessed me with eARCS of both this one and the first book in the duology (?) and I have heard nothing but lovely reviews about this romantasy book and I’m ready for the light academia vibes!!!
Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa (16 January 2024): don’t remember where I saw this one but say hello to this queer Pride and Prejudice retelling that we all need in our lives SIGN ME UP!!!! As you know I’m a recent Austen girlie and this sounds absolutely brilliant!!!!
—
Love At First Flight by Jo Watson (18 January 2024): I had the pleasure of meeting Jo this year and I am so excited to get through her backlist. But at that event, she told me this: a pilot and a flight attendant fall in love over the plane intercom,,,, I AM SO HERE FOR THIS. I believe there’s autism rep too which is cool.
The Principle of Moments by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson (18 January 2024): Not a lot of fantasy on this list but I stumbled upon the author talking about her book on Tiktok and I was sold so fast you could see smoke. All I remember is that she compared it to A Darker Shade of Magic and then showed me this cover. What was I supposed to do?
The Getaway List by Emma Lord (23 January 2024): I have never even needed a cover or synopsis to pick up an Emma Lord book but then I saw the yellow and best-friends-to-lovers road trip and she had me by the throat. That’s all. Also, have a few to catch up on before this comes out so please join me in a Lord marathon so I got my eARC next in line when I do *insert heart eyes*
The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland (30 January 2024): gah yep still have this author on my to-read list but people whose reviews I wholeheartedly trust love her and I need to pick this one up!!! Love me a twisty magical YA any day every day.
FEBRUARY
—
Tides & Drift by Adrienne Young (1 February 2024): for some odd reason, this book that is coming out very soon has not a lot of information out yet. Says 0 pages and is not even part of the Fable universe so I can’t tell you if it’s a prequel or anything. BUT I am very excited to dive into this world so there you have it.
I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang (6 February 2024): the lovely author gifted me an eARC of this one and ah I’m so excited to dive into this magical academic YA world. I follow her on socials and ugh just love and once again my gut is telling me good things so I AM READY!!!
Even If It Breaks Your Heart by Erin Hahn (6 February 2024): really enjoyed the first book in this kinda companion series and idk apparently the couple from You’d Be Mine appears in this book and I want to see them so here I am. Oops.
A Love Song For Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams (6 February 2024): as we all are, I adore Tia Williams and this cover is beautiful and I want to read everything she writes. That is all *sighs*
All This Twisted Glory by Tahereh Mafi (6 February 2024): ashamedly have not managed to start this series but I have the first two on my shelf and they are ready to be read. One can say I am very excited about starting a new Mafi series!!!
—
Truthfully, Yours by Caden Armstrong (6 February 2024): she had me with this title and this cover and forced proximity and autism rep. And I have been following Caden for years and love her content so we love to support fellow bookstagrammers!!!
Bride by Ali Hazelwood (6 February 2024): tbh I am not ecstatic about a vampire-werewolf romance BUT this is Ali Hazelwood and we always have a good time, what more is there to say?
The Catch by Amy Lea (13 February 2024): I can only guess this is about a fisherman and Amy’s latest influencer girlie and that’s a stunning match. Still behind on her backlist but I’m so excited to dive in and my eARC is ready when I do.
The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden (13 February 2024): I’ve had The Bear & The Nightingale on my tbr for a hot second mostly because I am scared that she will destroy me. So I may as well be excited for the author’s upcoming historical fiction right?
—
The Someday Daughter by Ellen O’Clover (20 February 2024): if you were around last year you know I ADORED Ellen’s debut YA contemporary so of course I am here for her next one. She so gracefully gifted me an eARC and I am ready for the emotional turmoil she will bring to me. Maybe. Idk.
A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal (20 February 2024): also need to catch up with this author but hello??? How could I not talk with this cover and a vampire heist premise?! That is all I have to say for myself
A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L Jensen (27 February 2024): was almost not going to add her to the list because I haven’t read her other series yet, but then I saw Norse mythological romantasy and suddenly I was ready to give my life.
Right On Cue by Falon Ballard (27 February 2024): do I know nothing about this? Yes indeed. Will I read because of my gut and this cover? Couldn’t tell you. In all seriousness, I’m excited about this author AND that cover tells me this involves film and now that I’ve finished my degree, she’s feeling nostalgic,,,
MARCH
—
The Prisoner’s Throne by Holly Black (5 March 2024): I keep not buying and not picking up the first book even though I NEED IT IN MY BLOOD. No idea why. But I eventually will get to it. Took me a while with the original trilogy so we’ll use that as my excuse.
Happily Never After by Lynn Painter (12 March 2024): I will say I have only read one of Lynn’s adult romances so far and she was not my fave so I’m going with the highest of expectations. That being said, I do think The Love Wager will be a good one and I’m living for this cover. Yup that’s it.
Where Sleeping Girls Lie by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé (19 March 2024): welp can you guess? Have not read from her before but I have good feelings. Also that title and cover? GIVE IT TO ME
APRIL
—
The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson (2 April 2024): literally know nothing about this book but I WILL be reading anything Holly writes so here we are. Keeping it as vague as possible but I’m here for a missing persons case.
Only and Forever by Chloe Liese (9 April 2024): technically there are 5 other books in this series out in 2024 butttt we’re trying to save space so I’ll just mention the one that I have not read yet. Berkley blessed me with an eARC and I am simultaneously ready and also not ready to say goodbye to this series.
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo (9 April 2024): I think I knew what this was about at one stage but I have forgotten, however, I do believe that is fate. It’s Leigh Bardugo, I don’t need to know anything else,,, save me
—
How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kang (9 April 2024): she almost didn’t make it on the list but Emily Henry LOVES her screenplays of her literal own books and also loves her actual book therefore MY BODY IS READY
Old Flames and New Fortunes by Sarah Hogle (23 April 2024): I literally JUST caught up on Sarah’s more recent release which was her first venture into whacky magical romance and this is her next one. I love every word she writes and I am in love with this cover so I will now go and fight tooth and nail for that advanced copy *grabby hands* I can’t this any better myself so listen to Goodreads: “a steamy second-chance romance about a magical florist’s unexpected reunion with her high school sweetheart as she fake dates his soon-to-be stepbrother”
Funny Story by Emily Henry (23 April 2024): every year Emily Henry is on a mission to ruin my life and every year I welcome it #bringbackprayforruby
MAY & JUNE
—
The House of The Wicked by Nikki Lincoln (1 May 2024): I read Nikki’s debut this year and was so impressed. This is book one in The Snake and the Raven Duet which is a romantic suspense, never read this genre before but am so willing to venture with Nikki who’s the bestest!!!!
This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune (8 May 2024): gah there is technically a cover for this one but not the UK one yet so leaving her blank. Anyway, I’ve read both of this author’s previous books and always enjoy them, and apparently, this is brother’s best friend and what Ms Fortune describes as lovers to friends to lovers and set on Prince Edward Island SIGN ME UP
Past Present Future by Rachel Lynn Solomon (4 June 2024): ROWAN AND NEIL ARE LIKE A DRUG AND I NEED THIS COLLEGE SEQUEL RIGHT THIS SECOND OR I MIGHT COMBUST
Twelfth Knight by Alexene Farol Follmuth (6 June 2024): idk where this YA chess romance renaissance has come from but I think I like? Really enjoyed Olivie Blake’s debut YA contemporary and this sounds like just as much fun <3<3
Icon and Inferno by Marie Lu (11 June 2024): been a hot minute since I read a Marie Lu book and I really need to get to Kingdom of Back. Anyway, this is a popstar spy romance-y typa read which sounds excellent and I know I shall be blown away!!!
—
Not In Love by Ali Hazelwood (11 June 2024): sorta similar to earlier because the forbidden love affair trope is not totally calling to me but I do love her science-y romances so I’ll take it
The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center (11 June 2024): don’t remember if I had Katherine on my list last year but I’ve been hearing all the good things and I really want to give her a shot. This title is adorable and may as well read a book that has rom-com in the title *shrugs*
A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston (25 June 2024): I NEED THIS BOOK YESTERDAY OTHERWISE I MIGHT CRY!!!! Romance between a literature professor and a character from a book INJECT THIS INTO MY VEINS *cries*
Children of Anguish and Anarchy by Tomi Adiyemi (25 June 2024): still need to get to the second book and whilst I didn’t adore the first book, I found the premise and world really cool so I’m intrigued to continue with the series.
JULY
—
The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love by India Holton (1 July 2024): this cover is absolutely magnificent and I know its contents will be also. Whilst I have not finished a book by this author yet, I did start reading her debut and I’m in love already. I just KNOW she will blow me away and this light academia rivals to lovers with birdwatching characters sounds SCRUMPTIOUS *insert heart eyes*
Such Charming Liars by Karen M McManus (4 July 2024): technically she has a cover but not in the UK and I am eagerly waiting to see it! Anyway, literally know nothing about this book but I eat up everything this author puts out and I’m excited to see what this one entails!!!
Heir, Apparently by Kara McDowell (9 July 2024): I was excited about book one last year when the publisher contacted me about this interesting end-of-the-world romance with a prince BUT apparently the ending has a huge cliffhanger and I am thereby waiting for this sequel to come out to binge the duology,,,
The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce (16 July 2024): Ms Joyce blew me away with her debut romance and I will now be dropping everything to read anything she puts into the world and weep about it. I am absolutely seething for this exes-to-lovers story that she’s been teasing omg!!!
The First King by Shameez Patel Papathanasiou (18 July 2024): still need to get off my sorry butt and get to the first two books in this trilogy but this author is the absolute kindest person ever and I CANNOT wait to jump in. I deserve shame for not having read this btw.
Hera by Jennifer Saint (23 July 2024): please do shame me for not having read this freaking author and idc what it’s about, I just know I’m going to love it. Also, the US cover is out and I LOVE but I wanna see the UK one…
The Mirror of Beats by Alexandra Bracken (30 July 2024): I absolutely adore this author and must read everything she puts out. I haven’t started her latest series but this Arthurian legend-inspired rivals-to-lovers story I already know is going to be BRILLIANT!!!
AUGUST
—
The Pairing by Casey McQuiston (6 August 2024): there is very little info on this book actually but I read “two bisexual exes accidentally book the same European food and wine tour and challenge each other to an international hookup competition to prove they’re over each other. And they are over each other, right?” and suddenly I appeared!!!
The Break-Up Pact by Emma Lord (13 August 2024): I’ve been excited about this book for a few years now and my hands are ITCHING to read it omg. Fake dating best friends which I assume is set at the beach with this glorious cover and apparently these are some of Emma’s favourite characters and I’m so excited I COULD CRY
Then Things Went Dark by Bea Fitzgerald (15 August 2024): I just KNOW I’m going to eat up this author’s debut and apparently, she’s coming out with a sapphic adult thriller and you know what? Sounds absolutely brilliant,,,
Confounding Oaths by Alexis Hall (27 August 2024): I will read everything they put out and I am so excited to devour this queer romantasy I know next to nothing about!!!!!
SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER
—
A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna (10 September 2024): I’ve heard gorgeous things about the first book in this series and I am so here for the cosy, witchy romance book. And I mean LOOK AT THIS COVER *sighs*
A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft (17 September 2024): This cover can STEP ON ME AND I WOULD THANK IT OH MY GOSH SHE IS STUNNING!!! Don’t know much about this except that it’s queer gothic fantasy with a murder mystery of some kind? Keeping the details vague because I have a feeling that is what this book expects.
A Song To Drown Rivers by Ann Liang (1 October 2024): can’t tell you much about what this book is about but from the aesthetic videos the author has shared, we NEED this Chinese mythology fantasy in our lives,,,
Don’t Let The Forest In by C.G. Drews (9 October 2024): I think I have a thing for these gothic-y covers and also Cait and gahhh I’m so excited for her new book! Publishers were wrong to not pick up the sequels of TBHSH but they aren’t for picking this one up. This is YA horror and I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE but also send help,,,
