HOW TO MANAGE SCHOOL AND READING?? // because i'm the master of productivity and you should all bow down before me
This post has been sitting in my drafts for 63866294 years and it’s about time I actually wrote it. But basically, this is my last year of high school and it’s become a must larger challenge to try and balance my reading and blogging life with the amount of school work I have to do, excluding applying to university and just general life stress. So here we are today. I will be drowning in studying for the million exams I’m writing this year so will really have no reading life, so these tips are really just for an average amount of school work. Side note: do I actually use these tips in my day-to-day life? No, but they’re really just for me to try and use. Well done me #imfunny Okay, let’s stop the rambles and actually get into the post. TIPS TO READ FOR WHEN YOU HAVE A TON OF WORK TO DO: 1) Carry a book with you EVERYWHERE This first one is pretty obvious but let me tell you how much it actually helps. And when I mean everywhere, I mean E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. It’s so helpful because there are always random moments during the day when there isn’t…

FEBRUARY RECAP // i hosted a readathon & binged a show… who am i??
Okay, now it’s the time to ask where the year has gone? How is it even February?!?! I didn’t read as much as I could have but I have a reason… Anyways, let’s get into it. The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo {★★★★☆}: I read this for a readathon I hosted at the beginning of February and I read it in a mere few hours. I loved it from the very first page. It’s such a stunning novel, so empowering and amazing. I just loved it and definitely going to read anything else Elizabeth publishes! The only reason Click here for my Goodreads review. A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews {★★★★½}: I also read this for my readathon and absolutely adored it. Don’t even ask me why I only got to it now even though I had an ARC and everything, it was clearly a mistake since it was so good. I loved the writing and the characters and just everything. Just wow what a stunning novel as well. Ahhh also super excited for more of Cait’s books. Click here for my Goodreads review! So um, this haul is going to be freakishly long and consist of a LOT of books… Go grab some popcorn because we’re going to be here a while folks. A THOUSAND PERFECT NOTES // author interview with C.G. Drews ft. mini book review
I’m literally the worst person I know please don’t kill me for disappearing again. Okay now that that’s out of the way. I actually finally read this book and IT WAS GLORIOUS. And I may or may not have begged Cait to answer some of my weird-ass questions and she kindly obliged. Now granted I read this book like 3 weeks ago so the review will be short but hopefully the glory of Cait will make up for that. Anyways, without further ado, let’s get into it. First of all, let me tell ya a teensy weensy bit about Cait. She runs the blog Paper Fury which you all probably know. And she wrote a book last year called A Thousand Perfect Notes. BEST AND ALSO MOST DISAPPOINTING MOVIES OF 2018 // (and late 2017 because I can)
Why my movie-related posts are always late idk it’s a mystery to me too. Also, I really apologise for being so inactive with my posts. I’ve been really lacking creative ideas and thus haven’t had anything to upload. But I do have a few in the works and hopefully, I get back into the swing of things and come up with some posts… I’ve really just kind of been taking a break and not forcing myself to post anything. Anywho, I hope this quenches your thirst of Ruby’s amazing and interesting posts. One other thing, none of these are “backlist” movies except the late 2017 movie releases because 1) I usually can never watch them when they come out since I don’t live near a cinema and that’d be expensive and 2) I did watch all these movies last year and needed to fill up my list. Enough rambling, Ruby, just tell them about all the movies. I said in the title, these are just the most disappointing movies. Some may come as a shock to you and you may be thinking: but why they were so good? Well, I was underwhelmed, it’s not that they’re all terrible, I just…

MINI MOVIE REVIEWS // i have so many conflicted feelings that i'm drowning
So I, uh, don’t actually have as many movies to talk about as I usually do?? I usually am very overwhelmed with the amount I add to the list… I must be ill or something. Anyways, I’m just going to get into it. I hate intros tbh, what are they?? Pitch Perfect I’ve said this a million times in these reviews, but I’ve been giving movies I thought I loved/disliked in the past another shot and I am thoroughly surprised at how my opinion changes. I watched this when it was popular years ago, and LOVED IT. I was so obsessed but now I really have come to notice it’s flaws and issues. I didn’t not like it, but I found some lines very offensive and had issues with the characters. I really love the performances, that’s one thing that will always impress me. I really don’t know how to word this properly: I feel topics like mental health and sexuality weren’t dealt with properly. The characters definitely have mental health problems and they were kind of sidestepped and not addressed properly. Idk how to say it without being confusing, I just felt like all these characters had mental issues…
