OMG THIS SONG! BOOK TAG // aka combining two of my favourite things
Okay, I think I’m back. Don’t quote me on that but I’ve had a giant urge to spit out words so I might be back on my game. I do want to apologise for this odd disappearance, but I’m trying to get back on my game. So, if you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I really love my music. I frequently update my favourite songs on my playlist on my stories. I wanted to talk about that so found this tag which was created by Katie so here we are today. Should we just get into this? I think we shall. 1. MY JAM ~ a song you MUST listen to every time it comes on, no matter how old or how many times you’ve listened to it / a book you’ll never get sick of. I’ve been super into 2000s pop/rock so recently I’ve been obsessed with Take Your Mama by the Scissor Sisters. I cannot stop myself from wanting to dance around the room. It’s such a gem and I forgot how much I loved this song. As for a book, this won’t come as a surprise to anybody at all… eyyy, of course, it’s…

(late) MARCH RECAP // i read A TON but am kinda sorta suffering a creative slump
Okay, I legit just checked how long ago I posted and internally cringed. I APOLOGISE IMMENSELY FOR ABANDONING YOU GUYS. But I’ll get to that later. I did actually read quite a few books. Your eyes might pop out of your head (chill Ruby it isn’t that much). Anyways, I think it’s just time to get into this post. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas {★★★★★}: We’re just going to sidestep the fact that I’m 648368622 years late to this book and talk about how brilliant this book is. You all know this already, your grandma knows it. But I love Starr and her family. I love Angie’s writing style and of course the message and how important it is. Click here for my Goodreads review. One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus {★★★★☆}: This year is the year that I catch up on 2017 bestsellers that I didn’t read when everyone else was. I picked this up on a total whim and read it so freaking fast. It’s not the most amazing book that ever existed but I was WAY too addicted and invested in these characters. We all know The Breakfast Club, and I loved…

HOW TO MANAGE SCHOOL AND READING?? // because i'm the master of productivity and you should all bow down before me
This post has been sitting in my drafts for 63866294 years and it’s about time I actually wrote it. But basically, this is my last year of high school and it’s become a must larger challenge to try and balance my reading and blogging life with the amount of school work I have to do, excluding applying to university and just general life stress. So here we are today. I will be drowning in studying for the million exams I’m writing this year so will really have no reading life, so these tips are really just for an average amount of school work. Side note: do I actually use these tips in my day-to-day life? No, but they’re really just for me to try and use. Well done me #imfunny Okay, let’s stop the rambles and actually get into the post. TIPS TO READ FOR WHEN YOU HAVE A TON OF WORK TO DO: 1) Carry a book with you EVERYWHERE This first one is pretty obvious but let me tell you how much it actually helps. And when I mean everywhere, I mean E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. It’s so helpful because there are always random moments during the day when there isn’t…

Okay, now it’s the time to ask where the year has gone? How is it even February?!?! I didn’t read as much as I could have but I have a reason… Anyways, let’s get into it. The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo {★★★★☆}: I read this for a readathon I hosted at the beginning of February and I read it in a mere few hours. I loved it from the very first page. It’s such a stunning novel, so empowering and amazing. I just loved it and definitely going to read anything else Elizabeth publishes! The only reason Click here for my Goodreads review. A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews {★★★★½}: I also read this for my readathon and absolutely adored it. Don’t even ask me why I only got to it now even though I had an ARC and everything, it was clearly a mistake since it was so good. I loved the writing and the characters and just everything. Just wow what a stunning novel as well. Ahhh also super excited for more of Cait’s books. Click here for my Goodreads review! Oh jeez, it’s been a hot second since my last haul. Like literally September of last year. And not only did I just get regular books throughout the months, but I was also invited to a book sale and picked out a whole ton of books for super cheap. So um, this haul is going to be freakishly long and consist of a LOT of books… Go grab some popcorn because we’re going to be here a while folks. The Darkest Legacy by Alexandra Bracken: I shame myself for still not having read this book yet and it came out like 6 months ago. But thanks to Pan MacMillan for sending a copy my way, I plan on getting to this very soon hides in the corner The Trouble Series book 2, 3 & 4 by Rachel Morgan: She kindly sent the rest of the books of in the series my way. A THOUSAND PERFECT NOTES // author interview with C.G. Drews ft. mini book review
I’m literally the worst person I know please don’t kill me for disappearing again. Okay now that that’s out of the way. I actually finally read this book and IT WAS GLORIOUS. And I may or may not have begged Cait to answer some of my weird-ass questions and she kindly obliged. Now granted I read this book like 3 weeks ago so the review will be short but hopefully the glory of Cait will make up for that. Anyways, without further ado, let’s get into it. First of all, let me tell ya a teensy weensy bit about Cait. She runs the blog Paper Fury which you all probably know. And she wrote a book last year called A Thousand Perfect Notes. Title: A Thousand Perfect Notes Author: C.G. Drews Page count: 282 Date published: 7 June 2018 Genre: Young Adult contemporary Thank you to Pan MacMillan SA for sending a copy my way! BEST AND ALSO MOST DISAPPOINTING MOVIES OF 2018 // (and late 2017 because I can)
Why my movie-related posts are always late idk it’s a mystery to me too. Also, I really apologise for being so inactive with my posts. I’ve been really lacking creative ideas and thus haven’t had anything to upload. But I do have a few in the works and hopefully, I get back into the swing of things and come up with some posts… I’ve really just kind of been taking a break and not forcing myself to post anything. Anywho, I hope this quenches your thirst of Ruby’s amazing and interesting posts. One other thing, none of these are “backlist” movies except the late 2017 movie releases because 1) I usually can never watch them when they come out since I don’t live near a cinema and that’d be expensive and 2) I did watch all these movies last year and needed to fill up my list. Enough rambling, Ruby, just tell them about all the movies. I said in the title, these are just the most disappointing movies. Some may come as a shock to you and you may be thinking: but why they were so good? Well, I was underwhelmed, it’s not that they’re all terrible, I just…

Rainbow Rowell is a genius and my gay-loving heart is totally LIVING. I needed Wayward Son yesterday please and thank you. SIMON AND FREAKING BAZ OH MY GOD!!! I just,,, read my review and you’ll understand ~ click here Archenemies by Marissa Meyer {★★★★½}: I’m obsessed with superpowers and by default this book. Because it was also spectacular. So deliciously good and if you’re into anything I just mentioned, READ THESE BOOKS! I have a whole review and also a…
