2025 READING, WATCHING & BLOGGING RECAP // last year in review ft all the books i read, failed reading goal, all the charts & 2026 goals
Here is my formal plea for you to act very kindly towards an extremely delicate Ruby, who is writing this post right now. She is not feeling super proud, but also can’t resist making these, so maybe we can just ignore the low amount of books read, lack of posts appearing in a month etc. That will be all at this time,,, 2025 RECAP: READING Okay, so books… very low. But apparently, I read 11k pages last year, so at least I read big books, and for that,t I won’t feel bad. I’m also ~very~ chuffed with 3 books I finally read last year, which we’ll get into RIGHT NOW ALL THE BOOKS I READ IN 2025 Decided to be trendy AND update you on the small amount of books this year because on top of reading not a lot, I also threw monthly recaps out the window ̄_(ツ)_/ ̄ ̄ Yay me for reading SO MUCH YA, I went back to my roots in the limited amount of time I did spend reading and no regrets tbh. I mentioned just now, but Storygraph says the majority of books were over 300 pages, so one could say I was LOCKED…

2024 READING, WATCHING & BLOGGING RECAP // last year in review ft all the stats, charts, race to finish my reading goal & 2025 goals
My TikTok fyp got boring so I forced myself to be here. Which sounds like a bad thing but how could I not like looking at the charts? I know you all do. Anyway, started off 2025 a bit lazy and back into my old ways but let’s try to fix that and get into my groove! Without further ado, into the recap <3<3<3 2024 RECAP: READING What do you mean I had to lower my goal from 50 to 45 books? Not again Ruby. But I did mention bad habits and here’s to changing those. Maybe? My Goodreads might say 46 books, but that’s because they suck these days and I read 2 short stories that the app refuses to add. So there. Not salty AT ALL. Also yes who is surprised I read the majority adult romance ebooks? Nor the fact that graphic novels from December make up most of my formats read. Lol couldn’t be me. I have issues. BUT interestingly I read a lot of rivals to lovers and I’m most definitely not mad about that *insert heart eyes* The monthly reads are near abysmal but at least no 0’s amirite? Not sure where my 2024…

2023 READING, WATCHING & BLOGGING RECAP // last year in review ft reading stats, content posted, movies i watched, pie charts galore & launching my substack!!!
Anonymous caller: Hello? It’s 2023 calling. She wants her stats sent over. Me: No problem, here you go. — Hope you enjoyed my little improv back there. As you can tell, I am an actress. Also ACTING like it’s not a week into the new year and I’m only now getting to the stats (and yearly faves next up shhhh). Folks, I was writing my thesis all of November and I was tired okay,,, So hence the lateness. Take it as a reward that I’m combining all the stats this time around even though it’s due to laziness. Anyways, yup, we’re recapping everything I read, watched AND all the content I posted in one post. Let’s dive in! 2023 RECAP: READING What do you mean my goal was lowered from 55 to 50 books on the 29th of December? I think you’re imagining things man,,, #ihavenoshame It was the year of graphic novels AND equal amounts YA and adult. Also a lot of friends-to-lovers, and whilst the bar is lower than the others, also a fair amount of second-chance romance. Was living my best life tbh. For proof of Kay Claire and Chloe Gong, see below: Read mostly really great…

2022 READING AND BLOGGING RECAP // last year in review ft books read, 2023 reading challenge, even more social media stats and pie charts galore!!!
Hi hello and happy 2023 friends!!! Eeeep guess this is my first post of the year which is rare for me to be so on time with this. But we love the energy!!! I’m a tad behind on my fave books of the year post but that should be coming in the next few days, so please feast your eyes on the stats in the meantime. Let’s get to it xoxo READING OVERVIEW AND STATS I’m posting this to Instagram as well because why not? Hence my stunning graphics which I’m obsessed with so I hope you appreciate them *sighs* Me? Self-obsessed? Definitely not… Anyways, I’m happy with my 2022 reading but we’re on the third day of the year now and you’d think I’d have all the goals. But I honestly want to go with no expectations this year. I hit my reading goal of 50 books and I’m going to up it by 5 because of that, but 2023 shall remain goal-less. Speaking of reading goals, I apparently read fewer pages than my previous reading year, which is odd since I read 2 extra books??? Oh well. 2022 turned out well overall I think, but I have a…

2021 READING AND BLOGGING RECAP // last year in review ft. 2022 tbr, reading challenges, pie charts & new years goals
Hi hello to my first post of the year! I didn’t realise it was the first until now and in general, it’s very late. I tried to get this recap post up a lot earlier, but I’m going to cut myself some slack because last year I highlighted how I once posted this in April so… I think I deserve a pat on the back, eh? Anyways, I’m here semi on time and perhaps less enthusiastic than usual. But I’m a stats freak now and at least I’m getting out some content, right? I hope you’re okay with Ruby being slightly off-beat today. 2021 absolutely sucked and I hated it and am glad its over, but hey, the reading was good! Mostly keeping this post the same as last time, though adding a couple of sections to it. I didn’t do a mid-year check-in because,,, life. Since I didn’t get the chance to build any anticipation, here’s your chance to take your guesses on whether or not there will be a high amount of ebooks and romance in this post *hides* But anyways, let’s dive right in! READING STATS AND OVERVIEW You know, I’m actually really chuffed with reading overall…

MY FAVOURITE BOOKS OF 2021 // a whopping bizarre top 8 ft. some honourable mentions
Life is currently a mess and I really wanted to get a lot more end of year posts out this month, but alas, 2021 will just have to close on the messy path it was already on. I have no idea what I’m writing but we’re rolling with it *nervous laughter* Apologies as I did have a fun idea for a Christmas recommendations list, but I just had no motivation to get it done. You’ll have to wait until next year folks. As usual, lowkey doing this post is stressful because I leave it till the very last day of the year JUST IN CASE a new favourite needs to squeeze on here. There hasn’t been one but it’s okay, at least I’m wrapping up all the books. Related posts: Top Books of 2020 2021 Mid Year Freak Out Tag Today I have 15 books in total to talk about, 7 are honourable mentions and 8 are the top favourites. I’m chuffed with this selection, though I’ll try and keep this post short and sweet so we can zoom through them. Very excited to talk about them, so let’s get into it! HONOURABLE MENTIONS: in no particular order (maybe least…

HOW TO MANAGE SCHOOL AND READING // bookish advice: tips for juggling reading, blogging & studies with a busy schedule ft. starting a studygram
Hey hey friends Welp, I’ve started my second year of university today. I’m excited and not excited at the same time. Love that for me. Wishing all of my other fellow and struggling students out there the best of luck. Anyways, in honour of that, I thought I’d revamp a post I made about 2 years ago. You can click here to check that one out if you’d like, though I don’t want to scar your eyes so maybe don’t. This one is much better haha. Now, I am aware that in the northern hemisphere, schools have already started. So I guess whoops but I’m always late so it’s not unexpected. I’ve put together a list of tips that I, myself, have used in the past to help manage my studies and reading. Disclaimer: I’m not an expert and I definitely do not have everything figured out. I’m still not great at time management so do with that information what you will. Also, keep in mind that this advice is what I personally have found useful and it may not work for you. ✎ Are you a student? Are you struggling to make time to read? Or is your daily…

2020 READING AND BLOGGING RECAP // checking up on 2020 in stats and goals ft. reading challenge, progress in pie charts & new years resolutions
Hello friends, here’s me trying to get all of my end-of-year posts up on time and not post them in April. Which I DEFINITELY have never done before… *crickets chirping* I should do double *crickets chirping* because I disappeared for 2 weeks again. I explain why later in this post but IM SORRY. I’m ~trying~ to get better at not abandoning you all for weeks on end. Anyways… let us take a minute to THANK THE HEAVENS it is 2021. Even though the year has maybe not been off to the best start already lmao. And just because it’s a new year, it doesn’t mean all of our problems will magically disappear. It’s really just the number that’s changed. But STILL, you all get it. Anyways, I absolutely loved doing my mid-year goals check-in last year so here we are reflecting on 2020 as a whole. Feast your eyes on a couple of pie charts and my 2021 goals. READING STATS AND OVERVIEW So,,, unfortunately, there wasn’t really any drastic change in my reading from the last update. My reading year didn’t improve a ton, I still ended up with a very short list of favourites. I haven’t reread all…

MY FAVOURITE BOOKS OF 2020 // a short top 5 list ft. some honourable mentions
And… Happy New Year’s Eve my friends! As I said last year, indeed I do wait until the last day of the year to post this. Just in case. Even though I haven’t really added a new fave to this list in a while, only a recent read to the honourable mentions. Unfortunately, my TOP FAVES is not very long at all, I tried to make it longer but I just abandoned all of my 2020 tbr, basically no YA, maybe too much adult romance and a couple of series rereads. Love that for me. This year has been terrible, to say the least, but I think I had a couple of good reads. Would’ve loved to have many more though. Alas, not everything you wish for comes true. I hope you all have a better 2021. And hoping my list next year will be more diverse in terms of genre, but I don’t want to jinx it so shhhhhh Related posts: TOP 10 of 2019 Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag 2020 Without further ado, let’s dive right in. As mentioned, I have my top 5 list of favourites, and then a total of 9 honourable mentions (almost had one…

INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR CHLOE GONG // chatting to author of These Violent Delights (aka my fave book of 2020) on release day!!
Hello there friends! Today is a special day as THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS BY CHLOE GONG is OUT NOW. I read this one a month or so ago via eARC (big thanks to Hodder via Netgalley) and have,,, still not recovered. I adore it so much and I need EVERYBODY to go and read it. And I also need you to suffer with me as we wait for the sequel welp. I’m also so very fortunate to have author Chloe Gong as a guest today and she so graciously answered some questions about her debut. Which is so exciting and I’m so excited to have her!! Let’s just jump right in. Chloe Gong is an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, double-majoring in English and International Relations. Born in Shanghai and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, she now lives at the top of a crumbling, ivory tower in Philadelphia (also known as student housing). After devouring the entire YA section of her local library, she started writing her own novels at age 13 to keep herself entertained, and has been highly entertained ever since. Chloe has been known to mysteriously appear by chanting “Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s best…
