PAIRING UMBRELLA ACADEMY CHARACTERS WITH BOOK CHARACTERS // playing platonic (maybe) matchmaking because I actually watched a tv show ft. dysfunctional characters galore

Love that my brand is about never watching tv shows yet here I am watching like a million. Quarantine is making me do it. I may have disappeared for a while because I forgot that once you scheduled one post you actually had to prepare another one. So that’s fun. I’m also just going with the flow here and doing whatever posts I want to. But also, sorry I abandoned you for like almost two weeks. That was unintentional. This post could be a disaster and I have no idea how it’ll turn out but I had this fun idea and I just wanted to do it. I recently decided I needed to finally watch this show and wow we had a great time. It’s not Stranger Things level for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and was so… surprised?? I didn’t expect it to be as well-made as it was and I genuinely had a good time. Anyways that’s enough rambling so let’s just get on with it. Also, I’m going to try not to spoil anything and if there are any I’ll be sure to mention it because obviously, not everyone has seen the show hehe. Header image…

MY HISTORY WITH BOOK REVIEWS // a discussion: why I stopped writing reviews (and blogging in general) for a while, how they’ve changed ft. tips to improve yours!!

Hi friends, come on this very rambly journey with me. I have no idea if it makes sense but let’s give it a go. SO. I’ve been wanting to do more discussion posts and I have a few topics I’ve been wanting to chat about. This’ll be my first real attempt at  a full-length discussion post so let’s hope it turns out well. If you’ve been around for a while, you would’ve noticed I hardly posted ANY book reviews last year, nor was I that active either. I used to be that girl who reviewed every single book she read, ‘reviewed’ not being the correct word because a) I hated my old structure and b) I don’t think I was very informative anyways. Which we’ll get into more in a bit. But I’m back on track with them all now and am overall pleased and proud of them, so I thought maybe I could chat about it?? Those are what discussions are right?? Wish me luck. WHY I STOPPED BLOGGING LAST YEAR? A question I still don’t know how to answer tbh. And I think it’s a number of reasons. Firstly: school. Last year was my final year of high…

CHECKING UP ON MY 2020 READING AND BLOGGING GOALS // how has my reading year been going ft. stats, reading challenge, new goals & more

I love how I’m doing this post yet only posted my goals in April because I’m apparently always four months late at everything  I do whoops. I am a blogging disgrace. But oh well. At least I try. This what I tell myself to sleep at night yes. Anyways, I actually set some goals this year, which was ready to post back at the beginning of the year, but I’m a failure and forgot it existed and never posted until April. Among other excuses obviously, which we can talk about later. BUT all the cool kids do these fun posts and I am feeling basic and also want to see how my goals are doing so far this year. Trying to expand my horizons etc etc. So let’s just get started *CUE BLACK EYED PEAS MUSIC* Oh also click RIGHT HERE for my goals post. STATS & OVERVIEW I never do these but I was so intrigued that I went ahead and lowkey wasted time to see how my reading has been going all year. I’ll start off by saying that from a general overview, I’ve been having a terrible reading year so far. I started university and didn’t read…

RAMBLING ABOUT THE HUNGER GAMES BEFORE THE PREQUEL IS OUT // less than a week ft. the best book, why gale is a piece of cardboard & much excitement!!

Is this post useless? Yes. But am I doing it anyway? Indeed. I’m sorry you unfortunate souls who a) don’t care and b) haven’t read the masterpiece that is The Hunger Games trilogy. But also if you haven’t been around then you wouldn’t know that I did a reread of this series back in February and had like the best time of my life. And idk I wanted to do this semi-countdown (was trying to get this up a few days ago but alas uni work). As I said this post may be pointless? I don’t care, it’s my post okay. I have no idea how this post is going to pan out so I wish you luck on this rollercoaster alongside both myself and also these books because WOW. Also CAUTION: this post does have some spoilers, not many, and most are minor but be cautious. SERIES THOUGHTS!! See now even I’m regretting doing this because I have no idea where to start. Love that for me. Maybe we should start off with how ahead of its time this trilogy is. I mean we all knew that but reading them in 2020 woweeeee *insert exclamation point* First off, I…

TOP 20 BOOKS TO READ IN 2020 & NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS // this is incredibly late but hi reading and blogging goals ft. an ambitious tbr

Okay wow, this post is a tad late. I literally forgot that I hadn’t posted this and it’s been ready for MONTHS. Sorry about that. Better late than never though right? I’m jumping on the ’20 books to read in 2020′ bandwagon. I’m going to keep this short because I do have a sort of second instalment to this post planned with 2019 releases. Keep ya eyes peeled. And then I also had some new year’s reading resolutions so I thought I’d just combine those two posts into one. So it might be a whole mess. Have fun? TOP 20 BOOKS TO READ IN 2020 So instead of listing off why I want to read 20 books, which I’ve come to realise is not a practical idea and will be boring, I’m just going to name some that I HAVE TO GET TO. Like when 2021 comes around, anybody and everybody has permission to punch me in the face if I still haven’t read them. And then just a smol list of some other titles *wink wink* ♥ the priority list!!   Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo: Caitlin and I are going to buddy read the series this year so…

MY FAVOURITE BOOKS OF 2019 // top 10 reads ft. some honourable mentions

Hi hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE. Yes, I do leave this to the final day of the year because you never know. I’ve seen one too many read a favourite of the year after they do this post and I don’t plan on making that mistake. I sound way too stern than I should be considering the post whoops. Anyways, I only say that since I did, in fact, read a favourite in the final week of the year. See, good planning. Anyways, I know we all say this but literally where did the year go?? Honestly, I had it in my hands and it just slipped through my fingers. It’s 2020 tomorrow?? Like what??* I’m going to uni next year like WHAT. It’s all a lot. Trying to keep myself together as we enter a new decade. *If you’re wondering where my anticipated release list is, well it’s coming, I just like to live on the edge okay. That meaning I’m terribly late and didn’t do much planning. It’ll be posted in a few days  Anyways, without further ado let us just commence with the list. Let’s please pretend that I don’t talk about most of these all…

MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK RELEASES FOR THE REST OF 2019 // take a shot every time I say the word “excited”

I literally decided I needed to do this post like today and had this idea that it had to be posted TODAY. Yes you now all now how extremely stubborn I am. I did this last year but huh funny story: wordpress posted an old draft and most of the context disappeared. I didn’t notice it till like 1 month later WHOOPS when I reposted it. Here’s to that hopefully NOT happening again. Anyways, the reason I wanted to post this so quickly was because one of the books literally came out today so it wouldn’t make sense to mention it after it’s released and I really wanted to talk about my excitement. Is that even logical? No definitely not. But oh well. I’ll stop rambling and just get into all the books. There are some great books that are still to come out that I wanted to squawk about! Let’s just get into them!! SEPTEMBER American Royals by Katherine McGee (5 September 2019): oh wow okay I did not know this book was already out WHOOPS. But it sounds so good. What if America had a royal family? Um yes, please. I’m not expecting anything amazing but this sounds…

HOW TO MANAGE SCHOOL AND READING?? // because i'm the master of productivity and you should all bow down before me

This post has been sitting in my drafts for 63866294 years and it’s about time I actually wrote it. But basically, this is my last year of high school and it’s become a must larger challenge to try and balance my reading and blogging life with the amount of school work I have to do, excluding applying to university and just general life stress. So here we are today. I will be drowning in studying for the million exams I’m writing this year so will really have no reading life, so these tips are really just for an average amount of school work. Side note: do I actually use these tips in my day-to-day life? No, but they’re really just for me to try and use. Well done me #imfunny Okay, let’s stop the rambles and actually get into the post. TIPS TO READ FOR WHEN YOU HAVE A TON OF WORK TO DO: 1) Carry a book with you EVERYWHERE This first one is pretty obvious but let me tell you how much it actually helps. And when I mean everywhere, I mean E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. It’s so helpful because there are always random moments during the day when there isn’t…
