(very very late) MAY, JUNE AND JULY RECAP // exam craziness, holidays ft. the usual anxiety
As you can tell by the title of this post, it is way overdue. And I sound like a broken record but ahh I’ve been so busy lately. School has been taking up a lot of my time. I’ve felt super demotivated over here and not as creative as usual. But I’m trying to come back, I swear. I have a few posts that I’m working on. Just a warning though, I have had time these past few months available, but my end of year exam season is coming up so I might disappear again? I’m going to try not to but I can’t make any promises. Besides that, hi, how have you been doing? I hope you’ve been doing well. I have missed this. I’ve mentioned this a lot but I am SUPER active over on Instagram, if you’d like to keep up to date with what I’m up to, you can follow me 🙂 But without further ado, let’s get into the books I’ve been reading and other shenanigans! Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi {★★★★☆}: I read this in like two sittings which is rare for me. But it’s a good thing because it means I…

MINI MOVIE REVIEWS // it’s been too long so i’ve seen a lot of movies
So I was just browsing to see when I last did one of these and I realised it was LAST YEAR?? How did this even happen?? I blame it on myself for never posting. Anyways, I want to revamp these posts a little more and make them a little more interesting, but I’m not sure how yet. Today I just have a lot of films to talk about, but plans are being made. Anyways if you couldn’t tell by now I really love movies. I’m glued to my laptop 24/7 investing myself in fictional character’s lives. It’s fine, I’m fine. (Ruby please stop rambling). But enough of my rambling, let’s just get into the million movies I’ve seen in the last 6 months (!!) Excuse me if these are vague though because as I said it’s been a while. X-Men: First Class From what I remember of this movie (because I watched this like after New Years) was that I really loved it. I’ve become super obsessed with X-Men recently. Like really obsessed. They’re legit some of my favourite superhero movies. I loved how this one really ties historical elements into it, especially because I was studying the era it’s…

APRIL RECAP // anxiety struggles, a fave book, blogiversary & writing
Hey hey hey, well I truly tried to get back on a regular schedule but um life has been SO FREAKING BUSY. And I haven’t had any time to read let alone post. Gahhh!! Anyways, let’s just get into this recap. A Million Junes by Emily Henry {★★★★★}: Gosh I totally picked this up on a whim because my friends were talking about it so much. And ahh it’s been a while since I literally wanted to read a book all day. I loved this one so much. I loved the relationship and the world and the mysterious whimsy of the story and world. I loved the writing and the characters were so complex. Just ahhhh I loved this book. Click here for my Goodreads review. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde {★★★☆☆}: I had to read this one for school and I usually don’t talk about them much but I know this a loved book and I have some opinions. As you can tell I rarely rate books low, I generally know my taste but with this book, I was really into it for the first third and then some characters started making stupid decisions and I…

FAVOURITE MOVIES & TV SHOWS OF ALL TIME // you just need to trust my recommendations and go watch them okay
This post has been a long time coming. It’s been sitting as a draft for aeons and I’ve just never put the time into it. BUT you all know how much time I spend watching movies, less with tv shows but when I watch a show I become obsessed and do not stop. So I’ve been meaning to put together this list, it won’t be as long as you’d think it would but it’s here nonetheless. Let’s go! We’ll start with the movies, now I couldn’t come up with 5, I don’t know why I keep trying to add it but I never can so only have four to share with you. Incredibles 2 Now, this movie you probably know I cannot stop talking about since I went to see it last year. I wasn’t that into the franchise until I rewatched the first one just before the second was released and I was so blown away. I saw it twice in the theatre and have seen it multiple times at home afterwards. I just truly didn’t think I’d love it like I do let alone be as invested as I am. I just love it so much. I love…

OMG THIS SONG! BOOK TAG // aka combining two of my favourite things
Okay, I think I’m back. Don’t quote me on that but I’ve had a giant urge to spit out words so I might be back on my game. I do want to apologise for this odd disappearance, but I’m trying to get back on my game. So, if you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I really love my music. I frequently update my favourite songs on my playlist on my stories. I wanted to talk about that so found this tag which was created by Katie so here we are today. Should we just get into this? I think we shall. 1. MY JAM ~ a song you MUST listen to every time it comes on, no matter how old or how many times you’ve listened to it / a book you’ll never get sick of. I’ve been super into 2000s pop/rock so recently I’ve been obsessed with Take Your Mama by the Scissor Sisters. I cannot stop myself from wanting to dance around the room. It’s such a gem and I forgot how much I loved this song. As for a book, this won’t come as a surprise to anybody at all… eyyy, of course, it’s…

(late) MARCH RECAP // i read A TON but am kinda sorta suffering a creative slump
Okay, I legit just checked how long ago I posted and internally cringed. I APOLOGISE IMMENSELY FOR ABANDONING YOU GUYS. But I’ll get to that later. I did actually read quite a few books. Your eyes might pop out of your head (chill Ruby it isn’t that much). Anyways, I think it’s just time to get into this post. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas {★★★★★}: We’re just going to sidestep the fact that I’m 648368622 years late to this book and talk about how brilliant this book is. You all know this already, your grandma knows it. But I love Starr and her family. I love Angie’s writing style and of course the message and how important it is. Click here for my Goodreads review. One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus {★★★★☆}: This year is the year that I catch up on 2017 bestsellers that I didn’t read when everyone else was. I picked this up on a total whim and read it so freaking fast. It’s not the most amazing book that ever existed but I was WAY too addicted and invested in these characters. We all know The Breakfast Club, and I loved…

This post has been sitting in my drafts for 63866294 years and it’s about time I actually wrote it. But basically, this is my last year of high school and it’s become a must larger challenge to try and balance my reading and blogging life with the amount of school work I have to do, excluding applying to university and just general life stress. So here we are today. I will be drowning in studying for the million exams I’m writing this year so will really have no reading life, so these tips are really just for an average amount of school work. Side note: do I actually use these tips in my day-to-day life? No, but they’re really just for me to try and use. Well done me #imfunny Okay, let’s stop the rambles and actually get into the post. TIPS TO READ FOR WHEN YOU HAVE A TON OF WORK TO DO: 1) Carry a book with you EVERYWHERE This first one is pretty obvious but let me tell you how much it actually helps. And when I mean everywhere, I mean E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. It’s so helpful because there are always random moments during the day when there isn’t…

Okay, now it’s the time to ask where the year has gone? How is it even February?!?! I didn’t read as much as I could have but I have a reason… Anyways, let’s get into it. A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews {★★★★½}: I also read this for my readathon and absolutely adored it.
