A THOUSAND PERFECT NOTES // author interview with C.G. Drews ft. mini book review
I’m literally the worst person I know please don’t kill me for disappearing again. Okay now that that’s out of the way. I actually finally read this book and IT WAS GLORIOUS. And I may or may not have begged Cait to answer some of my weird-ass questions and she kindly obliged. Now granted I read this book like 3 weeks ago so the review will be short but hopefully the glory of Cait will make up for that. Anyways, without further ado, let’s get into it. First of all, let me tell ya a teensy weensy bit about Cait. She runs the blog Paper Fury which you all probably know. And she wrote a book last year called A Thousand Perfect Notes. Title: A Thousand Perfect Notes Author: C.G. Drews Page count: 282 Date published: 7 June 2018 Genre: Young Adult contemporary Thank you to Pan MacMillan SA for sending a copy my way! Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) GOODREADS SYNOPSIS Beck hates his life. He hates his violent mother. He hates his home. BEST AND ALSO MOST DISAPPOINTING MOVIES OF 2018 // (and late 2017 because I can)
Why my movie-related posts are always late idk it’s a mystery to me too. Also, I really apologise for being so inactive with my posts. I’ve been really lacking creative ideas and thus haven’t had anything to upload. But I do have a few in the works and hopefully, I get back into the swing of things and come up with some posts… I’ve really just kind of been taking a break and not forcing myself to post anything. Anywho, I hope this quenches your thirst of Ruby’s amazing and interesting posts. One other thing, none of these are “backlist” movies except the late 2017 movie releases because 1) I usually can never watch them when they come out since I don’t live near a cinema and that’d be expensive and 2) I did watch all these movies last year and needed to fill up my list. Enough rambling, Ruby, just tell them about all the movies. I said in the title, these are just the most disappointing movies. Some may come as a shock to you and you may be thinking: but why they were so good? Well, I was underwhelmed, it’s not that they’re all terrible, I just…

[Disclaimer: Pan MacMillan sent me a copy of this book in exchange for a review, this post is not sponsored. I just wanted to recommend you some movies] The first book before Archenemies, Renegades, is about superheroes if you didn’t know, which is why I thought it fitting to talk about superheroes in this post. Title: Archenemies Series: Renegades book #2 Author: Marissa Meyer Page count: 471 Date published: 6 November 2018 Genre: Young Adult sci-fi & fantasy Thank you, Pan MacMillan, for sending this book my way! MINI MOVIE REVIEWS // i have so many conflicted feelings that i'm drowning
So I, uh, don’t actually have as many movies to talk about as I usually do?? I usually am very overwhelmed with the amount I add to the list… I must be ill or something. Anyways, I’m just going to get into it. I hate intros tbh, what are they?? Pitch Perfect I’ve said this a million times in these reviews, but I’ve been giving movies I thought I loved/disliked in the past another shot and I am thoroughly surprised at how my opinion changes. I watched this when it was popular years ago, and LOVED IT. I was so obsessed but now I really have come to notice it’s flaws and issues. I didn’t not like it, but I found some lines very offensive and had issues with the characters. I really love the performances, that’s one thing that will always impress me. I really don’t know how to word this properly: I feel topics like mental health and sexuality weren’t dealt with properly. The characters definitely have mental health problems and they were kind of sidestepped and not addressed properly. Idk how to say it without being confusing, I just felt like all these characters had mental issues…

MOVIES AND TV SHOWS I’M EXCITED ABOUT IN 2019 // my heart will be destroyed this year
Eyy I forgot I did this post at the beginning of 2018, so here we are because I spend most days staring at a screen watching movies. I don’t actually have a life, I know. DON’T JUDGE ME!! TV SHOWS Anne With An E – Season 3: Okay now I may be wrong, but I definitely am holding out hope that this comes out in 2019. We’ll see. I am obsessed with this show, it’s so good YOU NEED TO WATCH IT! Shadowhunters – Season 3B (25 February 2019): This show is not perfect, I know. But I still like watching it every week and am very bummed that they cancelled it. 3A ended on a cliffhanger and I’m really intrigued to see where 3B goes, I hope they don’t mess it up. Game of Thrones – Season 8 (April 2019): I forgot we were getting more GoT this year and I AM SO EXCITED. We’ve been waiting long enough and season 8 is going to be so intense, I’m SCARED! The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Season 2 (5 April 2019): I binged the first season of the show when it came out and it’s so creepy and scares…

There are a ton of AMAZING books coming out in 2019 AHHH. Next year is going to be MY YEAR and I’m so hyped. I feel generic here but we all have that list of upcoming books we’re excited about so, I DONT CARE. Also, this list is going to be a lot shorter just because I feel like 2018’s one was so long and I wasn’t truly excited about all of them??? I truly didn’t get to as many books as I’d have liked to this year, which is what I plan to do this year: READ MORE! Okay, I’ll stop rambling now and actually get to the list. NO RELEASE DATE Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell (2019): Okay why does this book not have a release date? I literally just finished this book today and immediately knew I needed to add it to my list. DECEMBER RECAP // i read A LOT, booksale & igtv
December was such a great month for me WHAT?! I mean, not with blogging? But EVERYTHING ELSE!! I read a HECK TON. And I met up with friends. Plus it was Christmas and holidays and just EVERYTHING The Dark Between Stars by Atticus Poetry {★★★★☆}: I read this in collaboration with Bargain Books and I really liked it. I’ve never read a poetry collection outside of school before, but I really wanted to see what all the fuss was about modern poetry. And I must say, I had a great time. I even tabbed and wrote in my book?? What?? Anyways, I really liked it. Definitely, want to try and read more poetry. Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare {★★★★★}: Um like I mean what did you expect? Of course, it was amazing. I died and came back to life, SO GOOD. Cassie wrote the perfect ending and left a giant gaping hole in my heart. It was perfection! The characters are amazing and the plot?? Wow! I miss the days when I could devour 500 pages in a day, but Cassie’s books made me. Review here Wildcard by Marie Lu {★★★★½}: Ahh this BOOK! I was on my seat the…

Review: CARRY ON // smol gays, strange spells and witty insults GALORE
Title: Carry On Series: Simon Snow book #1 Author: Rainbow Rowell Page count: 522 Date published: 6 October 2015 Genre: Young Adult urban fantasy Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) GOODREADS SYNOPSIS Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who’s ever been chosen. That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right. Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up. This book is pure genius and I am Rainbow Rowell trash. I’m #SnowBaz trash but we’ll get to that essay later Can I marry this book?? Or at least live in it?? As I mentioned: PURE GENIUS I love what she did with this story I loved the satire THE SPELLS I can’t even I love my gullible and idiot children…
