CURRENT FAVOURITES // what i’ve been loving lately ft. music, apps, youtube and movies!

Hi yes, this is a random post but I felt like doing it so here we are. And I just broke my upload schedule because I legit just said you’d have to wait two weeks. I just came up with this post and wanted to post it so I guess here you go?? I truly don’t know what this is but I’ve seen some other friends do it and I just had some things I wanted to talk about that aren’t bookish related, well maybe a little, but ANYWAY. Let us just get into this very odd and VERY spontaneous post… m u s i c ♥ Sam Phillips Do these songs sound familiar to you? Because yes it is indeed the music from Gilmore Girls (which we will get into later as well). So I’ve specifically been loving the A Boot and A Shoe album but I also love a few of her other songs. I’m just in the BIGGEST early 2000s deep vocals, and guitar mood?? And she’s hit the notch with this album. But it’s only 36 minutes and I take personal offence to this because IT IS NOT ENOUGH EXCUSE ME?! All her songs are so…

SEPTEMBER RECAP // a consistent blogging schedule, tons of reading and braces

Yes hi, this is me trying not to have these posts up so late but very badly failing. Oh well. Anyways, September was A TIME! And there’s a lot to talk about so let’s just get into what happened last month. Also, I did try to get this up on time but it wasn’t working with my upload schedule (which we shall get into later).  Oh well Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston {★★★★★}: welcome to the few minutes of me also giving this book all the praise because I’m super basic. We loved this book! My heart is in a puddle. It was stunning, amazing, beautiful and every other adjective you can give it. I also did a REVIEW WHAT?!? A whole ass blog post review?? I’m particularly proud of it too. It’s basically just me squawking like a bird about this book for an absurd amount of time. Check it out here <3 ♥ Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker & Wendy Xu {★★★★☆}: I read an e-ARC of this graphic novel just recently and wow what a fun book! By the time you’re reading this it should be coming out in a few days and yes you…

ALL THE GRAPHIC NOVELS I’VE READ THIS YEAR SO FAR // i’ve been on a high ft. heartstopper, pumpkinheads, paper girls & more

I have no idea what this post is but we’re just going to go with it. I’ve read quite the few graphic novels this year and I really wanted to talk about them but because these books are so short I wouldn’t have enough to say to give each of them a full-length review. So here we are. As I said, this post may be a mess but let’s see how it turns out. BOOK #1 Title: Heartstopper Volume One Series: Heartstopper Book #1 Author: Alice Oseman Illustrator: Alice Oseman Page count: 278 Date published: 7 February 2019 (originally October 2018) Genre: Young Adult contemporary romance ♥ Synopsis: Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…? Charlie Spring is in Year 10 at Truham Grammar School for Boys. The past year hasn’t been too great, but at least he’s not being bullied anymore, and he’s sort of got a boyfriend, even if he’s kind of mean and only wants to meet up in secret. Nick Nelson is in Year 11 and on the school rugby team. He’s heard a…

SPOOKY (AND CREEPY) BOOKS I WANT TO READ THIS HALLOWEEN SEASON // aka an ambitious reading list from a scaredy cat

Hi hello, yes you are on my blog. Fun fact about yours truly: I’m the biggest wimp out there… So why am I making a Halloween reading list you ask? You know, not even I can answer that very valid question. Literally cannot handle horror AT ALL. I will get nightmares and creepy faces will stare at me for a solid day. I can handle some gore, not all of it. But creepy people NO THANK YOU. Anyways, I did this post last year. It may be bad but you can go and read if you want I guess. But because it’s Halloween, even though where I live people don’t really do anything, I feel like reading spooky and mysterious books. Which you will see is what makes up this list. So let me stop rambling and actually get into THE BOOKS. also yes I am semi-dividing these books into genres but some of them belong in other sections as well but am we’re just going to roll with it PARANORMAL: The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken: I love Alex’s books. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite and the genre has died out but The Darkest Minds…

RED, WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE // an actual book review?? i just needed to gush all over this gay masterpiece

Yes hello, I am finally appearing out of my miserable hole of not doing a proper review for literally 9 months? And I realise that is the same amount it would’ve taken me to have a child. Ruby that was the lamest joke you have ever come up with WHY! Anyways, I have just read this masterpiece of a book that everybody was talking about. I gave in and picked it up on a total whim and I have EMOTIONS. I don’t know how to review anymore whoops… Title: Red, White & Royal Blue Author: Casey McQuistion Page count: 423 Release date: 14th of May 2019 Genre: New Adult romantic contemporary ♥ Synopsis: What happens when America’s First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales? MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK RELEASES FOR THE REST OF 2019 // take a shot every time I say the word “excited”

I literally decided I needed to do this post like today and had this idea that it had to be posted TODAY. Yes you now all now how extremely stubborn I am. I did this last year but huh funny story: wordpress posted an old draft and most of the context disappeared. I didn’t notice it till like 1 month later WHOOPS when I reposted it. Here’s to that hopefully NOT happening again. Anyways, the reason I wanted to post this so quickly was because one of the books literally came out today so it wouldn’t make sense to mention it after it’s released and I really wanted to talk about my excitement. Is that even logical? No definitely not. But oh well. I’ll stop rambling and just get into all the books. There are some great books that are still to come out that I wanted to squawk about! Let’s just get into them!! SEPTEMBER American Royals by Katherine McGee (5 September 2019): oh wow okay I did not know this book was already out WHOOPS. But it sounds so good. What if America had a royal family? Um yes, please. I’m not expecting anything amazing but this sounds…

AUGUST RECAP // all the awesome books and exam update

Look at me actually being semi-consistent with this posting thing! Wow, I know a MIRACLE tbh.. But um by some other miracle I also read a decent amount of books? As you have probably heard by now because I talk about it all the time, I’m busy with exams this year. But I read some really good books during this time, all of which I loved so that’s a plus?? Anyway, let us just get into the actual post. Paper Girls Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughn & other artists {★★★★½}: I’ve been getting into graphic novels this year and as soon as I heard what this was about, well I obviously I needed to read it. So it was described as similar to Stranger Things and set in the 80s which is like a formula for success?! And I, of course, loved it as you can tell by my rating. This book delivered because it was heaps of fun. I came for the ST vibes and the ST vibes is what was delivered. It was super weird and the story was strange but it hit all the right buttons?! I loved the art style and colour palette. There’s a…

MID-YEAR BOOK FREAK OUT TAG // i am late to the party as usual but i am here ft. many fave books and too many others to read

How are we already at this time of year again? I do not understand this. This year is basically over and I just don’t want to deal with it. Send halp! It’s customary to do this tag right?? Even though I’m super late, it had to be done. I also love these questions. Also, I love tags and I don’t understand why we don’t do them more often. But without any further ado let’s just get into it. BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR SO FAR Carry On by Rainbow Rowell Somebody, please explain to me why on earth I took so long to this glorious book?? Like I try to answer this myself but I got nothing? This book! I have been squawking about it everywhere. My Instagram is tired of hearing me talk about it. Carry On is the weirdest, most absurd book ever but it’s genius!! Like I do not know how Rainbow is such a genius. I loved the weird spells and funny names. The romance was obviously the best thing ever *chefs kiss* Its just a glorious book. I even started rereading Fangirl and I have a feeling I’m going to love it, even more, the…
